Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Fist Bump is driven along by a bassline that sits somewhere between Post-Punk and Rockabilly. While the guitars snarl and seethe, emphasising the drone effect of the bass, the drum track is loud, syncopated and treated with dramatic resonant effects. The vocal reminds me of Franz Ferdinand jamming with Kurt Vile. Kind of electronic Alt Rock that makes highly impactful use of dynamic contrasts and grows in intensity before signing off more gently with a chord-based piano-only figure at the end. Written, formed and moulded during the height of the pandemic, while finishing the track off leading out of the illness and into a possible war.

Sonically weaving in and out of happier times, folded with darker over coming atmospheres with soundscapes. Picking its way through all that, are the vocals of Renn, pulling it and melding it together to form a multi genre'd aural trip.

"Big Band Theory” originated as a concept to create a song including one instrument that none of the band members played plus one improvised unorthodox instrument – harmonica and zip-fastener being the two featured examples in this track. Another track – from the same sessions – includes field recordings of local firework displays, loaded quarry trains, and church bells. Sometimes – but mostly in the middle of the night – the quarry trains sound like The Jesus and Mary Chain going back to their pure feedback roots. But louder.
