The title alone: it seems to refer to a member of the Branch Dividian cult and the Waco massacre. Eerie! Don't worry, we'll focus on the music in this one. Like the label that released this masterpiece, Warp Records, how it contributed to bleep techno and IDM.

P.S.: One of our favourite producers (back in the days) was with us in the studio and said: "I don't know if I could be friends with somebody who didn't like BOC..." Could you!?

Utopia Records is the anticipated new label project by Alexander Bradley in collaboration with Soho record store Phonica, set to unearth a diverse range of music, from official re-releases and remastering of obscurities to contemporary and cutting edge club and home listening music. Touching on Jazz, Techno, House, Ambient, Disco and Boogie through to left-field Cosmic, Balearic Soul and Rock. The First release comes in the form of an essential ambient Japanese house track by Legendary producers Manabu Nagayama and Soichi Terada. This highly sought after version of Low Tension originally released on the 'La Ronde' EP on BPM Records Japan in 1991, has been remastered for single release for the first time. Also features a stripped back rework by cult Japanese producer Yukihiro Fukutomi and Bradley himself with an extended deep, dubby and melodic Utopian mix. The mythical deep house works of Japanese producers such as Nagayama and Terada have become online folklore with the latter's production for Nami Shimada entitled 'Sunshower' (featuring Larry Levan mix) a holy grail for house heads. Pressed Loud and Limited on a 180 gram vinyl 12" with its original beautiful stunning artwork on a full picture sleeve - all the trimmings by Phonica / Vinyl Factory London. nthng follows up his acclaimed debut EP 'Remember Us' with the third entry into the Mörk catalogue, '1996'. Taking a less aquatic approach to production, but still shrouded in warm analogue fuzz and reverb, '1996' sees the young producer on much more reverent form, channeling a wider range of influences from German dub techno to staggered UK bass and Giegling-esque minimal tropes.

Time Traveling

Orbite is a timeless space techno track by Berliner Orbite on Kenneth Christiansen's newly launched Echo Echo sublabel. 

Echocord sub-label Echo Echo continues this July with Orbite’s ‘Interstellar’ EP, a three-tracker from the Berlin-based producer.

Orbite is a brand new project founded in Berlin, Germany with a nod towards the raw, dubby sounds often heard across the clubs in the city, and where better to inaugurate things than the recently launched sub-label of Copenhagen’s Echocord, one of the leading imprints in the realms of Dub Techno, home to pioneering acts like Rod Modell/Deepchord, Pole and Fluxion who have paved the way for Orbite’s own twist on the genre.

The ethereal pad textures of ‘Skylar’ lead on the package, deftly evolving alongside bubbling synth tones, swelling chords and shuffled percussion to create a create dynamically unfolding six and a half minute cut. ‘Moment’ follows, edging things further into dubbed-out territories with heavily delayed dub echoes and mesmeric spoken word poetry intertwining to create a hypnotic beatless soundscape.

‘Organi’ closes the record with emotive, billowing pads, warm bell like tones and vocal murmurs running alongside swinging shakers and stripped-back micro-house percussion.

Orbite’s ‘Interstellar’ EP is out on Echo Echo 13th July 2018.

MNMT Premiere: Atomic Moog – Floating Motion

Three dub Musketeers, nobly animating the ubiquitous flow of reverberations, skillfully fence with micro-textures. Desolated melancholy and dotted rhythm emphasize the formlessness of ambient structures, causing emotional restraint.

The limited edition record by Vincent Raude (Upwellings), a French cultivator of deep-sea dub techno streams, comes from the bowels of analog synthesizers. Its sound makes sense and steadily penetrates into the auditory range, expressing the interactive-spatial evolution of music.

Peter Fanai (Basicnoise), a lover of subtle dubby jams, producing from late 90s and consistent, methodical electronic pedant from Sydney Kyryl Polozyuk (Kooscha) made a vinyl contribution.

I’m proud to present Illusion Of Time, an LP made in collaboration with Alessandro Cortini out 27th March on Phantasy/Mute. I’ve been a huge admirer of Alessandro’s work for many years and this project was every bit as inspiring as I knew it would be. The experience felt unique in that much of the recording process was done remotely - we were both touring heavily at the time - sending each other care packages of beautiful noise from various parts of the world. Waking up in different time zones, different cities to something new was always a total rush. We were able to finish the record together in New York whilst on the Nine Inch Nails tour, the luminous context of which feels very fitting for an album we’ve given our hearts to at every stage. The album was mixed by Marta Salogni, the artwork designed by Planet Luke and the video for the title track (which is online today) directed by Tom Andrew and Sam Davis; we surrounded ourselves with masters.
