As a nation, the Irish have always had a profound relationship with the people of Palestine.

But at this moment in time, it’s not about nationality or religion it’s about humanity – as an entire people stand on the precipice of extinction. 
 

As a proud Irish man and a citizen of planet Earth, to be silent (as we all bear witness in real time to the genocide of the Palestinian people) is not an option. It’s estimated that to date 35, 000 people have been slaughtered – 15,000 of them woman and children not including the bodies under the rubble and with more than 600,000 are on the brink of preventable starvation.

Our own Irish ancestors experienced a devastating famine exacerbated by the British occupation – when 1 million people starved to death and 1 million more emigrated. So as the Israeli government uses starvation as a weapon of war, I am not going to forget our past, as those who do so and stand by, are surely doomed to regret their inaction.” David Holmes

A recording from the very last edition of Nachtdigital, recorded at the Ambientfloor in the Bungalowdorf Olganitz, and somehow a teaser for my growing interest in electroacoustic composition over the last few years. It was a difficult one for me - by this time, having worked in nightlife for almost 10 years, I was starting to feel pretty lonely in a place where substance abuse is part of the regular escape from conformity. While I truly appreciate the act of hedonism, at some point I found myself wondering about all the plastic floating around for a few minutes of fun. Luckily, my dearest friends* were able to join me for one last indulgence before I took an extended break from festival culture. Since the beginning of the year, I have been experiencing the joy of dance floors and DJ booths again, and I am glad that there are so many dear people who keep it up – to become undone. (to quote Luis' words from Together Somehow, 2023 ).

Nachti seems to be waking up from a long slumber... Who knows, maybe we will meet at the lake again? (@Nachtdigital)
