Zugluft is a radio show documenting the life of people in Berlin.

In this episode, @roxannewith2n joined DJ Garrincha (São Paulo, Brazil) and DJ DR.Sócrates (Vigo, Spain) at the headquarters of their Tropical Diaspora® Records label (@tdrgo). They dive into an hour-long conversation reflecting on their early years in Berlin, where they both started as the doorkeepers of an illegal bar in Mitte in the 9O's. Igniting a long-lasting friendship, it wasn’t long before they took over the decks together and became ear-openers of music from the Afro-Atlantic diaspora.

Their journey led to the creation of their independent pan-African label, marking a shift from the party scene to exploring the "behind the scenes" of this music of their cultural inheritance. 

Tropical Diaspora® Records is a return to the roots of the music they cherish and a cultural statement to challenge Western appropriation and music dispossession. In their own words: TDR reflects the musical narrative created by forced Africain migration, its collective memory and their powerful music Stories."

Hailing from Vinica, a small town in East Macedonia, Mihail P (@mihailpetrovski) is part of a new generation of artists re-forging a vision of classical techno in their own mould. A student of Architecture and Design in his mid twenties, he grew up with sounds of Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Jean Michael Jarre, Pink Floyd emanating from the home stereo – which has no doubt played a part in shaping the resonance of his musical taste.

After discovering the sounds of UK and Detroit Techno courtesy of Timeline Radio and the Estimuloshow, over the last couple of years he’s struck solid links and friendships with Paul Rimbaud from Distant Worlds, Domenic Cappello and Verdant boss Andy Green who have all played a part in giving him a platform to develop his sound. In turn, exposing him to ever increasing circles and genres of music that he likes to immerse himself in. Between his studies and making music, Mihail likes to draw, especially using black and white ink – having found his way with the technique from quite a young age – it’s a hobby he also likes to indulge as much as he can.

Alongside the drawing, he does a lot of graphic design as a freelancer. As he puts it: “I’m a sucker for a good conceptual design, and am really into beautifully crafter records with sleeve art”.

Giving Chase is Hudson Valley-based musician and DJ Scotia's debut solo release on Acid Camp Records. The six-track record is a high-femme hardware journey filled with jacking rhythms, swampy acid lines, and coquettish vocals. The EP opens with a pairing of feverish acid jackers "Who Really" and "Time 2 Work." "Pillow Priestess" and title track "Giving Chase" are expressionistic grooves that explore the ups and downs of sex and romance. "Love To Hate It Too" is a cheeky love letter to acid-house culture, and Otodojo's remix of "Time 2 Work" puts the original track through a kaleidoscope of bass rhythms and textures.

Scotia co-promotes the party Community Rave Network, a monthly queer-centric event that prioritizes classic rave values of music-first ecstasy. She began buying vinyl, DJing, and making tracks while living in Brooklyn in the early 2000s. After moving back to her hometown, she began promoting parties as Outpost 1 that supported regional club sounds—making connections with Brooklyn's UK Bass upstarts Turrbotax and the ballroom scene's Mike Q. In 2011, her work in the music industry went on hiatus, returning in 2022 and since then performing at Wrecked, The Bunker, and at renegade raves and clubs down the East Coast.

Love Injection is a New York music and culture monthly fanzine in print since February 2015, founded by DJs, archivists, and audio enthusiasts Paul Raffaele and Barbie Bertisch. Their namesake record label launched in 2020. Avid record and audio enthusiasts, Paul is also an art director and Barbie writes and performs music with various projects.
