Fused over the summer of '13, the four piece made a rapid entry onto the London scene with their 'brash, bold and, as it reaches it’s giddy peak, strangely uplifting' debut ‘Have You Seen It, It's Alive’. Evolving out of previous projects and collaborations the group combine a strong 60's pop-psych sensibility, inspired by the likes of Phil Spector and the tropical insanities of Os Mutantes, with wide sonic-jams and lush textures, articulating their vision with virtuoso and conviction. As their deranged and off-kilter debut makes quite apparent, this outfit are imbued with a life affirming and compassionate message; Sun Machine have arrived with every intention of shaking up the lethargy that swamps much of the current UK scene.       


Their Double A-side release will be out 1st May as a 7” via the band’s own Twin Egg label, you can pre-order the record through their website wearesunmachine.com. You'll be able to catch their euphoric live performance across the UK over the forthcoming months, Sun Machine will be supporting Darlia on their upcoming dates at the end of March as well as Pond on their UK dates this summer as well as taking up a residency at London’s George Tavern.

Following the unexpected acclaim from his charming lo-fi 2019 debut album, Banana Sludge followed by a successful debut tour of Australia’s east coast and supporting California’s Allah Las on their 2020 New Zealand tour, Joe Ghatt excitedly got to work on his follow up record — a process that became a 3 year journey, battling the isolation of Covid-19 lockdowns and a whole new direction in sound and production.

The new album entitled Caper is finally ready for its reveal with the release of lead single ‘Always Remember’, which sees the talented kiwi composer creating his most energetic song to date, with its uptempo drums and bass groove, layers of percussion and rhythmic electric guitar, paired with Joe’s breathy melodic vocals and enchanting flute echoing throughout. The 4:52 track is a cleverly arranged and dynamic jam, where Joe Ghatt brings certain instruments to the surface at different moments, making full use of stereo sound.
