Described as “romantic, literate and thrilling” by the writer Lorna Scott Fox, Storm the Palace take their inspiration from a wide historical sweep, starting with Bach and the baroque and encompassing European folk, the avant-garde pop of Kate Bush, the poetry of Leonard Cohen, the timeless song-crafting of Abba and the filmic grandeur of Scott Walker and Nancy & Lee. Based across Edinburgh and London, Storm the Palace will release their debut EP In Ruins as a digital release in Spring 2015.

Single taken from the album Alexandrine by Art Rock artist Grice.

The 12-track album is produced by GRICE & features Richard Barbieri (Porcupine Tree, Japan, Hogarth & Barbieri) on keyboards, synthesisers and as co-producer on a number of tracks. Alexandrine is mixed by Steve Jansen (Japan, Rain Tree Crow) who also lends his unique percussive input, tonalities and treatments. 
The album features musical contributions from a unique line-up, including Hossam Ramzy on percussion (Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel), Italian freeform trumpet player Luca Calabrese, BJ Cole on pedal steel guitar (Felt, T-Rex), Suzanne Barbieri (vocals) and violinist Steve Bingham (No-Man). The core band comprises of Al Swainger on bass and 05Ric on drums (Gavin Harrison).

"I wrote the lyrics to this as the exit polls came in on that fateful Thursday night. Like many disabled, poor and vulnerable people in this country, I'm terrified by the prospect of another 5 years of this. Plenty of people agreed with me, with 20-odd singers from all over the country contributing to the crowd-sourced chorus line. Whatever side of the debate you're on, I hope this song will get people thinking about just how hard and scary times are in this country for millions of disadvantaged people" - Kris Halpin

This is the single from my 2008 water-inspired album 'Divining' - I wrote, recorded and produced the album over three years, learning how to use Logic along the way.  'Written On Water' was played by Tom Robinson on BBC6 Introducing 'Hear the three years of perfectionism... A command of the keyboard reminiscent of Kate Bush, Tori Amos or Nina Simone'.
