Hipster panic! Swedish disco outfit Drop Out Orchestra is dropping a brand new single. This is their debut release on This Is Recordings, featuring vocals from Christopher Norman. 
The act has been extremely industrious in the studio in recent years. 
Drop Out Orchestra has released a slew of tracks on their own Drop Out imprint since 2009, including Gibbon, Polishing Our Act and the highly-acclaimed Capuchin track. 
The duo have also released on notable labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Mullet Records and King Of Sweden. Tracks that have seen their popularity rise and keep the phone ringing at their bookings office have been the recent It Will Never Be The Same Again / Sun Machine and the sublime All The Time We Need. Tracks such as Macaque are the epitome of what this duo is about, subtle, deep music, low BPMs, real bass guitar low end, coupled with quality vocal which soars over the tracks, sometimes with a sneaky wink towards the retro vox class of the Bee Gees. 

Drop Out Orchestra's In The Dark (ft. Christopher Norman) has two mixes. The Original mix is a deep and throbbing workout. Think shimmering glitter balls, funky real bass guitar plucks and stabs to set the mood. Platform shoes on, Christopher Norman commences his vocal “Only in the dark”. This is an intelligently made track, the subtlety of the track not detracting from its energy levels in any way. It’s a slab of retro future funk. 

The remix comes from NSFW (real name Alexander van Cappellen). This rising Dutch star has contributed some quality tracks to the label in recent months (Let U Go, Coconut), and his mix beefs up the original, giving an extra dimension. This talented producer maintains the vibe, gently pushing it more towards the dancefloor when the DJ gets into the swing of things and the floor is set for the night.

We at Despotz Records are just starting to work a new act called Saturday, Monday, which is a new project from one of our producers now turned artist. He ventures into the same post-dubstep landscape as artists like Gang Colours, Ifan Dafydd and James Blake, but adds a bit of Scandinavian pop touch to his productions. He is currently working on his début album and we'll be releasing more treats from him (singles and remixes) the following months as we draw nearer to the album release late 2012.

I recorded this about six years ago, just as a self-indulgent mix of classic tracks that I love. As you can tell by the title, I tried to cover as many different genres as possible including soul, jazz, rock, reggae, hip hop, funk, plus of course one or two Balearic classics. I then closed the set with a recording from the best television series known to man and it was job done. I really enjoyed making it and it's one of the few mixes of mine that I don't think I will ever tire of.
Anyway, enough of the sentimental bollox, I hope you enjoy it...

Boris Dlugosch - an icon and a pioneer of the early House Music scene and ambassador of Germany ́s electronic music. He‘s created that special sound which became a part of Peppermint Jam‘s trademark. His collaborations with Inaya Day, Mousse T., Michi Lange and Roisin Murphy became milestones of this era. "Stand up and be counted! Speak the truth from your heart! Spread the word about love and marriage equality!

I've been banging on about my new single, "Be Free With Your Love", for quite some time. The inspiration for it came from the news I read about the struggle for same sex marriage all over the world from Australia, where I started writing the song, to the USA, France and beyond. The fight continues today with protests in Paris and the argument being debated in Washington DC. Even in far flung places like Uganda, the freedom to be your true self is under siege.

So, for the time being, as a sign of solidarity, I decided to put up the full stream of "Be Free With Your Love" on my Soundcloud page ahead of its official release. I wrestled with myself about the idea of doing this because I think the fight should not be commercialized.

However, music can be transforming as it was in the spirit of the late 60s, early 70s and mid 80s, when some songs were written with the express purpose of sending a message to the world about certain causes and events. Whether they are protest songs, songs of hope, something thought provoking, or simply ones that make people happy and have a little boogie on the dancefloor, they take on more personal meanings for many while the battle wages on.

Several close friends have suggested I make the connection known between "Be Free With Your Love" and the inspiration behind it. The title was even co-opted from a news article about gay people from two different countries being threatened with deportation because the federal government doesn't recognize their relationship.

Being a proud, openly gay man for nearly three decades, as well as someone who would like the naturally given right to marry the person of my choice, I gave in and decided to share this song today. I've rambled on enough!

Five small words say so much.

"Be Free With Your Love" is a collaboration by super Swedish DJs, Drop Out Orchestra, and New York City based songwriter/producer/DJ, Vinny Vero. The single will be available from all online, digital retailers on April 8."
