The rare Afro-Latin Funkjoint "African Fever" by the Italian duo "The Tropicals" (Giancarlo Barigozzi and Oscar Rocchi) was released as a 7inch single in 1972. 

The rework is a collaboration between Dedy Dread (Lisbon) and SoulBrigada, which was already produced back in 2016 in Zurich | Switzerland. After a few years of maturation it's finally time to release this one. Enjoy it!

The Return Of The Classic is the return of Greek beat-master Mister T. to the Cold Busted label, and he certainly explores a classic sound. Based in Athens, Greece, Mister T. has long been transmitting the jazzier side of downtempo hip hop, with top notch jams that are soulful, swinging, and undeniably funky. This album is the latest in a string of Mister T. collections on Cold Busted … as prolific as Mister T. is, his quality never falters and the tunes don’t disappoint. Several years after his successful debut album „Keep It Raw,“ Dusty hits home with this ecelectic 4 track EP which represents a foretaste of his second album „Mood Matters“. The Jazz&Milk label founder consistantly straddles the line between tradition and modernity and proves that an album need not simply commit itself to a genre or two; and in the process ups the ante considerably by featuring a broad spectrum of musical styles, bringing together Dusty’s favourite leanings such as Jazz, Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Latin, percussive Beats and Deep House rhythms, while seeking a natural balance between accoustic, electronic and traditional sounds through the prism of a club-music oriented approach. 

This fusion is brilliantly demonstrated on the title track „Mood Matters“ which meshes forward-driven house beats with organic instrumentation – a big Jazz banger for the dancefloor! „Danse Macabre“ features Dusty’s live band project „Bad Jazz Troupe“ taking you on a wild trip between massive horn sections, heavy beats and deep basslines. On the B-side you’ll find the strong Afro-Funk piece „Seventy Three“ with its sweeping horns, charming Afrobeat guitars and mighty drumbeats and let’s not forget the soulful beauty of „Longing Lingers“, featuring the heavenly voice of Carla Vallet ,as well as one of Munich’s most talented producers, Bartellow.

"Matasuna Records" kicks off 2021 with another 7inch. This record features two remixes by German DJ and producer "David Hanke" aka "Renegades Of Jazz", for Afro-latin Funk bands "Brownout" and "Jungle Fire". Brownout's remix was first released in 2013 via Paris DJs on a very limited run of 45s and quickly became very sought after. By painstakingly cutting every instrument's individual notes, increasing the tempo and adding in a punchy breakbeat at the end, David turned "Flaximus" into an up-tempo dancefloor hit.

Jungle FIre's song "Comencemos" that appears on the B side is a cover version of Fela Ransome-Kuti's song "Let's Start".David added some more Afrofunk elements to the Jungle Fire version and builds a bridge to the original Fela version with the additional elements. The Jungle Fire remix is previously unreleased and will be available on vinyl for the first time.

"David Hanke" has been linked to "Matasuna Records" since our early days, when he released his "Dem Juju Poets" debut album on Matasuna in 2017. Most recently he delivered a dancefloor-friendly edit of "Mawuli Decker's" "Mololi-Lomko" at the end of 2020, again released on Matasuna. David is constantly producing and surprises regularly with new musical projects, restlessly trying to develop and refine his sound. With his new label, "Bathurst", he created a home for all his electronic music projects. Bathurst follows the notion of not focusing on any formats or genres, but caring more about the electronic music Hanke adores.

Since 1997 their productions have shifted effortlessly between the genres of drum’n’bass, dub and downtempo, building a strong following for their signature sound. 12 Mile High marks the return of the Thunderball trio from their duties with the venerable breakbeat production group Fort Knox Five.
