Our next podcast comes from a predominantly more techno angle, brought to us by Frenchman - Voiski. 

We first came across Voiski in 2012, through a release on Construct-Reform featuring his signature emotional techno with a track called Ad Infintum. A few years on and he has already produced several more important titles on both Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. and Wt Records. 

The Parisian has however been around for some time, having launched his own experimental label in 2008 called Silicate Musique. One of the founding principles was to promote new artists also also organise workshops for musical production.

If his productions aren't enough, he also boasts an epic analogue live set. If you were lucky enough to catch his Boiler Room Paris, you’ll know what we are talking about.

This mix is full of energy and foot-stomping rhythms that you can expect from both Voiski’s productions and his live sets.

Sometimes fast, often slow.
Zmba stands for an unmistakable deep sound between 90 and 120 BPM. Having grown up in the Mannheim techno scene, strongly influenced by the Berlin Deep House sound, he now gets more and more into international downtempo beats. The Corona lockdown got to him as well and some summer gigs got cancelled, however he used the time he gained to add fresh, exciting sounds to his music collection. Listen for yourself!

tici taci - bringing you electric funk rekkids at tempos below 120 bpm. No pre-packed freeze dried loops here, all tracks have live instruments well to the fore, from funky wah-wah guitars and deep chunky bass to temperamental analogue synthesisers and live percussion.

Now 2 years later (July 2015) we're at 23 releases from a range of artists and remixers, with one release scheduled each month.


Duncan Gray (biog) : Perhaps best known as one half of the Sons of Slough along with Ian Weatherall - see discogs entry for details of releases. The Sons were a formidable Live act (see You tube) playing regularly across the UK. DG's own releases also gained some popularity, starting with cuts for Scatological (1996) Blue Black, Whole9Yards, SaltHill, through to Aquamelon (2009). Since returning to music production in 2013 he has released tracks on NEIN, Eskimo, Blindetonation, Play Pal, Rock to The Beat, plus Andrew Weatherall's vinyl only Birdscarer label. He has played guitar on half a dozen AW remixes.

I'm getting fussy these days...please email files to the email address above. (don't just send a soundcloud link please) If you don't know what the sound of this label is like, don't bother sending me stuff. I get quite a few demos with a note saying "I love the sound of your label" from producers who have clearly never listened to any of our releases.
