Right around the same time we started Desert Hearts, we decided to start our own theme camp with our best friends in order to give something back to a city that has given us so much. Just in the same way Desert Hearts grew organically, Pile Palace developed as a passion project. A common goal for all our friends and family to work towards each year. Now 80 camp members strong full of our best friends and family, Pile Palace is the loving back bone of our Desert Hearts Community. You want to know where Desert Hearts gets it's amazing vibe? It's these people right here. They're our inspiration and motivation to make the world a better place and we're so happy to share this new mix series with you.

Stefan Schleich, born in the 80s, is one of the founders of KLANGEXTASE. The KLANGEXTASE podcast, with more than 5 million listeners, is one of the most influential platforms for electronic music. The project began as Stefan Schleich and friends started to stream live mixes on the Internet. The little witch and the giant wizard were standing on the beach on the southernmost point of the island, looking up to the volcano in the center of the island, 144 kilometers off the coast of North-West Africa.
They didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, but they sensed this would the toughest test they would ever face… a rite of passage for all witch-and-wizard couples.  The road to the top of the volcano would be challenging, and they didn’t have a map.  They had to find the route to the top all by themselves.  Witch and wizard lovingly held their hands while leaving the beach … the landscape looked a paradise, with palm trees waving in the breeze.  They quickly made progress … it all felt like a gentle stroll and maybe the road to the top wouldn’t be that hard after all.  But slowly the vegetation got sparser and after a while they were walking over high sand dunes under the blazing sun.  The feet of the little witch (who always walks barefoot) started to overheat and the giant (2m40) carried her to the other side of the dunes, halfway on the slope of the volcano.  But then they got stuck in a hostile landscape with big boulders and sharp cactuses … impossible to pass.  Then the witch had the idea to traverse horizontally to the Eastern side of the mountain where the climate was wetter and a thick forest covered the slope of the volcano.  Now the nimble petite (1m58) witch was in her element as she moved through the thickets with the agility of a squirrel and found a way through this lush green forest.  The wizard would never have found the way through this green labyrinth.  When they reached the upper edge of the forest, they saw the summit was really close now, but they still needed to cross a vast ice field.  After a few minutes, the witch’s feet got cold and blue and once again the wizard had to carry her.  It was tough but they made good progress, until all of a sudden they fell into a deep crevasse.  There was no way to escape, but luckily witches can fly and she carved some steps in the ice wall, which allowed to wizard to climb back to the surface.  Finally, after a day-long climb they reached the summit where they fell to the ground from sheer exhaustion.  A bit before sunset time, they found back their strength and gave a tender hug to each other.  But out of the blue the simmering volcano started to rumble and the earth started to shake with increasing intensity until all of a sudden 12 steam fountains erupted at the same moment in a wide circle around the two lovebirds and an intensely colored double rainbow appeared in the mist.
After the fog had cleared, the couple observed a glorious sunset and from their vantage point on top of their world, from which they could see the whole island and the surrounding sea.  And while holding each other tenderly, they saw the sun slowly disappear into the sea while listening to each other’s heartbeat … and they felt their love was stronger than ever …
