Maddison Carter is a Melbourne-based drummer and composer, fascin¬ated with the territory between notated and improvised music. Exploring a large palette of improvisatory sounds, he is currently in his final year of Jazz and Improvisation studies at the Victorian College of the Arts. He has lead an array of ensembles, including a 12-piece New Music ensemble, a double saxophone trio sextet, and has lead and co-lead three of the winning bands in the VCA’s Ensemble Series. 
Maddison performs regularly in local and interstate contexts, notably, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, and Stonnington Jazz Festival. He is co-leader of improvising bands ISM and Carbo Carter Gunnoo, and recently performed with the Allan Browne Quintet as part of the Allan Browne Memorial Concert, following an East Coast tour with folk band The Bean Project.

Young Astronauts Club is a stadium rock group featuring singer / songwriter / guitarist / multi-instrumentalist / producer Mic (Michael James Macintosh), singer / songwriter / keyboardist / multi-instrumentalist / producer Krs (Crystal Dawn Macintosh) and a continuously active, rotating cast of musicians, vocalists, producers, sonic / visual artists and remixers. As primogenitures of post rock, their collective mission is to continue to bring music forward, into the 21st century and beyond.

The newest phase (Act 2) includes fragments of broken machinery, shrinkage, chorale, prayer, dance hits from a bygone era and of course, the shrieking of chimps. 

Utilising moogs, obsolete 1980's and 1990's hardware, floyd rose dive bombs with samples & echoes of thrash, funk, electric chamber music and ambience, all tangled up beneath the harsh and unforgiving light of "the real world."
