Rooted in DC's post-punk scene but reaching out to embrace rhythms from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and beyond, the group summons a kaleidoscopic sound that knows no borders-- a static blast of experimental radio from a country that doesn't exist.

New York's 'Nu NO WAVE band SoSaLa is the brainchild of Iranian-American sax player SoSaLa. Fueled by improvisation, SoSaLa blends original melancholic melodies and those of his native Iran with Persian, African, and African-American rhythms. Altogether, Sohrab calls his music "nu world trash". His international background molded his music.
