The haiku of the week is by Yoshida Ryusui (1691-1758). Very little is known about him, except he’s often cited and quoted as a poet who exemplified the key element in haiku of kireji or cutting word.

Constantly amazed at what great sounds I hear. Inspired by the quality. Thankful for the many connections. The spirit of community moves me in so many ways.

Making music progressed in 2011 with electronic music and expanded by 2016 to include soundtracks, alt rock, acoustic, funk-style jazz... including a few collaborations & some experimental odds and sods along the way. I try to keep the vision to many horizons and roads to discovery open. :)

Time Rival is the ambient music project of Illinois native Michael Southard.  At a young age, Michael became interested in music production and recording engineering, creating countless albums of esoteric, cross-genre music.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in music business from Southern Illinois University in 2007 and has continued honing his production and songwriting skills.
The music of Time Rival is ambient in nature and has been described as “music for dreaming”.  Mostly piano and synthesizers heavily effected by computer wizardry.  It’s generally warm and pleasant with tiny hints of tension.  Music to help the listener decompress and provoke deep thought in this digital age.

Michael also creates technical, beat driven electronic music under the name @SupplyFi, is one half of the duo @Amberglow-3, and collaborates regularly with @runninginslowmotion and @belial-pelegrim.  He is a co-owner @triplicaterecords,  has a monthly radio show on Threadsradio.com and curates mixes and playlists for TRIP FM

OneAmbient4, composer of layered ambient, space ambient and electronic music. Since the 1970's when electronic music made its way into my life, starting with Switched On Bach, Tomita, JMJ, and others, I became very interested in electronic music. But then, the equipment was too expensive to own. So I waited.... Along came computers and later VSTi's and software. Also the Synths have dropped in price. With the help of others, here I am. My sounds were born because I was tired of (not) listening to what the media were offering, since the mid-90s, without paying any attention to the quality of the music.
I don't define myself as a musician, but a sound craftsman who, thanks to new technologies, enjoys experimenting with notes and sounds, and through SoundCloud I put myself to the test.
