Michael The Lion and Amy Douglas' self-titled EP on Soul Clap was arguably one of the best disco-focused releases of 2020, so hopes are naturally high for this remixed version. To kick things off, Jamie 3:26 and Danou P get to work on 'James is the Message', combining sturdy but loose drum machine beats with glorious disco instrumentation and a killer bassline, before Crazy P's Jim Baron dons his Ron Basejam guise to turn 'Willing' into a mid-tempo, jazz-funk influenced disco shuffler. Best of all though are the Patchouli Brothers reworks of 'Find a Way', where Steven Klavier joins Douglas on vocals. The Canadian duo re-imagine the cut as a synth-heavy fusion of nu-disco, proto-house and gospel, in the process delivering a sure-fire dancefloor anthem for summer 2021.

Singer, guitarist and original member of New York City’s Phenomenal Handclap Band, @quinnlamontluke is an outstanding artist who under the curious moniker Bing Ji Ling as well as his Quinn Lamont Luke handle has toured the world as well as releasing with DFA, Claremont 56, Leng and a long list of suitably cool labels.

His latest project is the El Triangulo record label and he has just released classy slice of deep house in the shape of ‘Not My Day’ a collaboration with Alex From Tokyo. It's a track influenced by both Larry Heard and the the live life to the full ethos of David Mancuso's Loft Parties and does both more than justice. It's also features a classy rework of Quinn’s cover of the Lil Louis classic ‘Club Lonely’.

To celebrate the release Quinn put together a spin tingling mix for us and we also spoke to him about the mix.
