After moving to Europe half-time, he launched his production career with releases on his own imprint Fauve Records as well as on other labels such as Permanent Vacation, Kalahari Oyster Cult, 禁 JIN, Freeride, Millennium, MINITEL, LAGASTA, Eskimo Recordings…Thanks to 15 years of crate digging, this fellah knows his classics as well as some of the most obscure nuggets & can adapt his sets to any context. From sunrise sessions on a beach to a festival on the Great Wall of China.

We are back with a new mix! Hope you are enjoying the summer 🌞On this occasion we have the pleasure of welcoming the talented Good Block duo!

Producer, DJ, designer duo Good Block have self released three EP's - ‘’Naiad / Dryad’, Aquaculture’ and ‘4 Corners EP’ after 10 years of hosting parties across London. With an added array of remixes and edits released on the likes of Planet Trip, Heels & Souls, Duca Bianco and Orange Tree.  

Aside from drip feeding edits to their renowned dropbox folder the duo have performed around the world in venues and festivals such as Glastonbury, Le Sucre, Tate Modern, Brilliant Corners, Nuit Sonores, Caracol, Selvagem and Skate Cafe. Putting out mixes on platforms such as NTS, Worldwide, Noods, LYL Radio, Kiosk, Rinse FM, LYO, Gop Tun and Planet Trip, the duos all encompassing musical ethos results in DJ sets that smudge the line between genres.

Up & coming: Good Block host Raphäel Top-Secret at Sweeties (The Standard London) on Friday 28th July and have a vinyl release coming on Duca Bianco next month as well as working on in the studio on new material.

The two have made a bit of name for themselves with their recently founded, expertly picked record shop https://soundcloud.com/sound-metaphors becoming a staple diggin' spot for all types of DJs and music lovers. The beautifully designed shop based in Kreuzberg that also boasts a dope sound system operates two labels, one under the same name that has put out dance floor orientated releases and reissues by DJ Dove and DJ Fettburger to name a few + the mysterious H.A.N.D. sub-label. Be sure to stop by the shop or one of their parties if passing by Berlin!

Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
This mix was recorded at one of our HAND parties, we recorded it on a Bozak with a 4 band isolator on the master output, no eq per channel…keeping it simple :) we also use some dorrough meters to keep the levels relatively constant.
The idea is to basically capture and hopefully express some of the magic we often experience at Have A Nice Day with the wonderful crowd and vibes. I think there’s something special that will always be felt in a mix if it is recorded at a party with 200 people enjoying themselves and certain freedoms instead of if it's recorded with us alone in a studio or in our living room.
　
Q1. 今回のミックスはどこでどのように収録しましたか？今回のミックスを作りあげる上でのアイデアがあれば教えてください
これは僕たちのHANDパーティーでレコーディングされたんだ。シンプルな方がいいからイコライザ―は使わず、Bozakとアイソレーター４つをマスターアウトに、レベルを出来るだけ一定に保つためにdorrough meterを使って録音したよ。
ミックスを作っていく上で僕たちはHANDでよく体験する魔法のようなものを表現したくて、200人以上の人が最高に楽しんでる中レコーディングされたこのミックスは普段スタジオで作ってるものと違って、時間が経ってもずっと特別に感じられるものになっていると思うよ。
