William Wordsworth’s Sister

William Wordsworth’s sister made the dinner did the dishes
She probably had some help, but not from William
William Wordsworth’s sister kept the larder and the inkwells filled
And researched all the cures for constipation

William Wordsworth’s sister supervised the changing of the sheets
The packing of the picnics, the repairs on William’s shoes
So he could eat a sandwich while he walked upon the heath
Was she William’s muse? To whom do we send our thank yous

For everything that made it to the paper from William’s brain
What was her name?
Dorothy, Dorothy,  Dorothy, Dorothy, 
I imagine her as so much more than sweet but rather plain

William and Dorothy came out of the same gene pool
But Dorothy knew William was the genius
But it takes one to know one and my guess is that at some point 
Or another brother William must have seen this 
To whom do we send our thank yous

What if sister Dorothy just didn’t suffer jealousy
For her a walk upon the heath was just a walk
Let William write the poetry, when Coleridge comes for supper
Their intoxicated talk could just be talk

But William and Dorothy were family and it seems to me
She must’ve known that William was the genius
And if you’re betting on a genius in 1823, if you’re smart don’t pick the girl
If you’re smart, don’t pick the girl

“SPACES” is about the desire to fill the space between you and your goals whether that be a love, a dream or just to stay strong in hard times and get to the other side.  My goal at that time was to get pregnant and have a baby while I was engulfed in a 3 year long battle with infertility.  This song came during an intense time where I questioned if this would ever happen.  

I can happily say that I gave birth to Leo Cash on Nov 5, 2017.  This song helped me stay positive and focused.  I hope it can help motivate others to fill the space between them and what they want. Enjoy!
