Co-founder of label and event series @motiontheorymusic, @katharine-motiontheory went from influencing over two decades of the dance music scene of Australia's East Coast, to now being based in Naarm and spanning various genres through her vinyl only DJ sets. 

In this almost 2.5 hour-long mix, includes some of Katharine's favourite trip hop, broken beats, Balearic, new minimal sounds and West Coast house records, encapsulating what she's best known for.

Will You joins the roster of Philipp Priebe’s Stólar this February with his ‘Is It 2 Late?’ EP accompanied by remixes from Lb Honne and Orion. Producer, DJ and Oleeva Records label boss Will You has been slowly unveiling his take on contemporary deep house and dub-tinged techno over the past few years via solo material and remixes on his own imprint and most recently a remix of Philipp Priebe’s ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’ on Stólar. Here we see Will You returning to the latter aforementioned imprint with his latest EP. Leading the release is ‘Santé’, a six and a half minute excursion through snaking sub bass tones, a crisp, shuffled rhythm section, dreamy synth chimes, squelchy 303 licks and spoken word vocal lines. Title-cut ‘Is It 2 Late’ follows next and deviates into more dubbed out territory via expansive, unfurling echoes, cinematic atmospherics and robust, intricate percussion. Opening the flip-side is Zurich’s Lb Honne’s interpretation of ‘Is It 2 Late’, the Project Indigo artist extracts the essence of the original and reshapes it into a subtly nuanced, loop-led and hypnotic workout. Italian duo Orion then conclude the package with their take on ‘Santé’, reshaping the original with their signature deep techno style, fuelled by grainy textural components and bumpy saturated drums.

Artist: Quadrant Soundscape [Dub Explorations]

For the 13th episode of the Frontier we have decided to step up and present our own interpretation of what the series is. The Frontier is a series that means a lot to us, it's something that we have talked about wanting to do for a long time and have been very careful in how we want to curate it. From the music, to the artwork, and to the artists we've invited on, every decision has been carefully thought about. 

So with that being said we are proud to present our own mix, coming in at just over 2 hours. We feel this is a good representation of our sound and how we like to develop and build things up over the course of a few hours. 

As with all our Frontier mixes we have not included the tracklist. Feel free to comment below and we will let you know what is being played.

Two of our favourite things at lempuyang HQ are deep techno and curry. As one of Glasgow's best exports in recent years, Chris covers both bases. He also happens to be a shithot (geddit?!) DJ and producer. Chris first came to our attention after his contributions to the always excellent OHM Series label, and he was subsequently invited onto our annual 'Pura' V/A compilation, comfortably holding his own against heavyweights such as Hydergine, W-Moon & Merv.

In addition to the above, you'll also find Chris loitering in the rosters of Mixcult, Greyscale, and we highly recommend picking up the excellent Sons of San release on Verdant.

Siberian producer and modular synth enthusiast Roman Spin @romanspin unveils his latest sonic exploration: Noise Inspiration EP — a deep and immersive journey through dub techno and ambient textures. Tm Shuffle comes from the forests of Ruutana, Finland. His passion for music started in early 90's and his record collection and musical vision has grown since those times. He runs Vuo records, having released music from Trevor Deep Jr, Stardub, Ohm, Kalle-M, Octaedre, himself and many more. In his productions as well as DJ sets the spotlight is always on the music. His sound is a sum of all those felt bassdrum kicks, which have been plenty. You could call it dubtechno but it's more; it's 4am moods and endless grooves, filtered delays and rolling hihats. Sometimes techno, sometimes house, most times something beyond.
