5 tracks of pure heat of various styles from members of The Black Lodge global family. A1 is entitled "Atmospheres" from the ever-talented Michigan producer JTC aka Tadd Mullinix [Bopside/Nation/Ghostly]. A2, entitled "Arreskni" comes from newer Chilean artists MU-GA, a track we released in digital format last year from their debut EP. Finishing off the A-side is Italian super-duo SONS OF TRADERS [SOT/Frigio/Black Lodge] aka Tans X Mike Tansella Jr. with the acidic cut "Indianapolis" also released last year by BL on tape and digitally from their first full length album entitled "Crollo Nervoso". Side B blasts off with the early Chicago house inspired track "Passion" by prolific Dresden producer SNEAKER [Uncanny Valley/Rat Life/Frigio]. Closing off the comp is a dirty warehouse banger/burner by e-spirit, a new alias from LA producer DELIVERY [LA Club Resource/Valcrond Video.

Born and bred in Athens, Anatolian Weapons, the project of Aggelos Baltas (Dream Weapons, Fantastikoi Hxoi) has been producing music for more than 15 years now. His Anatolian Weapons project gathered both local and international praise for its bold blend of disparate styles and influences, spanning a wide spectrum of psychedelic and global dance music.
Resident DJ at key points Astron Bar and Bios in his hometown, he also plays regularly at clubs all over Europe, while making acclaimed mixes for platforms like Digital Tsunami, Knekelhuis, Les Yeux Orange, or Sameheads.
His own material has been played for years by open-minded jockeys like Lena Willikens (who selected one of his tracks for her Dekmantel compilation), Alexis Le Tan, Vladimir Ivkovic, Phuong Dan, Dj SoFa and Andre Pahl among many others.
He restlessly re-edits, remixes or brings to life fertile collaborations, with his musical style being praised by respected publications such as The Wire, with releases on high profile labels such as Beats In Space, Emotional Response, Dark Entries, Invisible INC, Lurid Music and Kame House.

MMP097 - ANATOLIAN WEAPONS - META MOTO PODCAST

An EP of limbo-inducing squelch courtesy of our good friends Latrec aka Andy Bainbridge and Serious Hots, ft. techno flavoured remixes from Bristolian pal Remotif & our very own Matt Cowell & Johnny Aux as The W.C. Enjoy. 

In the furthest reaches of the cosmos, the intergalactic community gathers for the annual Kutika Limbo finals. 

Reigning champion Latrec draws the first straw and the percussion rolls excitedly as he steps up to the pole. Kutika glides lithely under the bar, tentacles wobbling to the acid rhythm. He celebrates his victory as the crowd chants in a glitchy alien dialect. “Kutika-tika-tika-tika!” 

Second in line, Latrec’s younger brother Dub Mix steps up for his first limbo. Shorter and stockier than his brother, we don’t know what to expect from this one. Once again the percussion rolls, the crowd gasps as his squidgy exoskeleton melts before their eyes, reforming on the other side of the bar - ‘blooooop’. The crowd goes wild “Kut-Kut!” 

Next up is The W.C. Events take a strange turn as they forgo the competition, instead they walk to the stage to sweep the band aside, hijacking control of the instruments. Heavy percussive hits twist spacetime with material melting bass throbs. The crowd goes wild as the fabric of reality collapses around them.  

Last but by no means least is Remotif, a techno unit resembling a giant cluster of biceps stands staring at the limbo pole, chaos erupting around him. The tempo of the percussion rises in anticipation and acid thunder roars in the background. Remotif picks up the bar, blinks, and hurls it off into the furthest reaches of the galaxy never to be seen again.

Pearl City exists in an other worldly place where melancholic pop music reigns supreme and the future’s not so desolate. Formed by duo Nick & Greta in Manchester, their debut track 'Flames' is the opening portal for a parallel world they've created, and a temporary respite from the industrial and politically oppressed world that surrounds them; "Pearl City to us is otherworldly - a fantasy place. The music takes us to an alternative realm where we can escape from reality, making our own soundscapes for them to occur there" state Nick & Greta.

Pieced together from a range of live instrumentation, studio trickery, field recordings, obscure instruments (including the Guzheng and Steel Pan), alongside a more typical combo of synthesisers, effects units and drum machines, their take on avant-pop dips between glacial vocal arrangements, electronic pulses and phantom echoes. It recasts a love for Bjørk, Arca and dystopian anime flicks into a mould that's entirely it's own - future pop music for a new virtual world.
