Joining us on our next podcast is Mysteries of the Deep founder Grant Aaron, who began the New York-based project in 2011 as a podcast and event series for ambient and experimental music, hosting the likes of Neel and Patrick Russell, before expanding it to a label in 2017. In true form Grant has provided us with a mostly-ambient mix, an hour which evolves patiently and profoundly over its course. Grant covers grand territory with his selections, dealing in sparse instrumentation, sweeping drones, and pared-down percussion, weaving these elements into a moving and cohesive whole. 'Jeff Mills has been a hero of mine for a quarter of a century, but around 6 or 7 years ago I realized that I had lost touch with his world.  Part of the reason is his prolific nature (which makes it hard to keep up) and the other factor is that Jeff just wasn't producing "hits" like i9 or Gamma Player at this point, so if you weren't paying close attention, some of what he was doing was easy to miss. Jeff was going deeper and more conceptual, stretching his recurring themes to their limits and exploring new territory that wasn't necessarily geared toward creating dancefloor mayhem. As I caught up with the releases I had missed and started keeping up again, I was drawn in particular to his ambient and experimental efforts, which I think are somewhat overlooked because of his legendary status as a dancefloor DJ. With this in mind, I got the idea to compile a mix of my favorite tracks of his in the more abstract style. Here is the result of that idea. Enjoy, and long live Jeff Mills.'

After the whirlwind of Summer forced us to take a brief pause, Unrush has returned to ease us into the quiet once again with a schedule packed full of subdued sonics. First up is our latest team member Irakli, who needs no introduction for those embedded within the music scene. Founder of the STAUB events in Berlin and a member of the now-defunct I/Y project, Irakli has been a key figure in the underground for years as a DJ, producer and impeccably skilled designer. Recently he has started working with talented and underappreciated artists from his home country of Georgia, giving them a platform to release, experiment and perform with his Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound imprint. His own sound gleefully defies definition, bending the limits of reality to succumb to his emotive universe. As he has been a part of the Unrush team for some time, we found it only natural to have him bless our ears with an hour of his musical musings...

O-Ma is a live artist and track maker from Japan. His music has no conventional musical background and cover a wide range of genres from techno, ambient to experimental, jungle and IDM. He performs regularly in Japan and overseas, taking his modular rack with him whenever he goes. He is also a member of MNMT (Monument) as correspondent.

Bun Saito (Terraforming / Pandora) Bun Saito has been active as a house and techno DJ since 2000. He spent 6 months in England in 2012 for intensive DJ study, where he participated in local squat raves and was baptized in the underground rave culture. After returning to Tokyo, he continued his development as a hardcore DJ, experimenting with drum and bass and jungle styles. He currently interacts with a wide variety of artists in the Japanese underground scene. Bun is constantly fine-tuning his home sound system to push the functionality of dance tracks to their limit and experiments with ambient noise and environmental sounds while delivering top-notch tunes that pack the dance floor.

Human Lessons #045 - fulusoma (O-Ma x Bun Saito)

Tomas started his career in the golden era of minimal and glitch techno and helped to define the genres. 
His live performance at the inaugural Mutek festival in 2000 caught the ear of Force Inc who signed him shortly after, just eking-out Akufen to become the first Canadian on the label. In the era where vinyl still ruled, and digital downloads were just a twinkle in some corporation's eye, Tomas dropped albums on Traum, Klang Elektronik, Revolver, Audio.NL, and more. 
Since then, two decades of producing has seen Jirku manipulate house on Arbutus Records; hip-hop with his laser-gun-rap project The Killaz; dub on his highly regarded "Entropy" album; electro, ambient, and other experiments that defy genres. With experience performing around the globe and having made his mark on innumerable record labels, Tomas has been honing back in on techno, aiming to maximize the brain and body connection that deep techno can provide.
His recent releases on Seattle's Innerflight, Berlin's Thoughtless, Vancouver's Subspec, and Rome's Concrete record labels further prove that the Canadian producer has built a strong repertoire by not doing anything straightforward or ordinary.
