This playlist began as a personal challenge: release 1 mix a week for the duration of 2025. As of June, that hasn't been achieved, sadly. 

Work travel has made it too difficult to keep up the weekly pace at a standard I can live with. However, I intend to keep working on this project throughout the year — we'll see how many I can create :)

I take a free approach to genre, moving from house to techno, electro to ambient, and back again, sometimes within one mix. The map is not the territory...

I said last week's Map was my favorite — well, until I recorded this one. This is a collection of hypnotic, deep, ritualistic techno that illustrates my idea of the "dancefloor journey", where each track takes you somewhere new and at the end, having built and released the tension, you're let down gently to reflect. Something like that, anyways. Enjoy the music.

Map 16 (deep and hypnotic techno DJ set)

Absolutely subterranean dub techno for you this week. We start at the mouth of the cave (birdsong!) in the 100bpm range, then head underground, working our way up to about 120bpm, where we find ourselves at the surface again, hearing birdsong once more. I didn't plan that part, but love that it happened.  Just one of those happy accidents that can happen when improvising a set.

The next podcast comes from our friend — @mrbars, a Minsk-based dj, audio phenomenologist with a futuristic mindset, mastering engineer, and founder of the experimental tape label I&I Group Records. Since the late ’90s, Mr Bars has played a key role in shaping the Minsk underground scene and continues to explore unconventional forms of electronic sound, going beyond the local scene, spinning rare records that blend genres like idm, jungle, electro, and ambient.

Finally, a new Map! While I haven't quit this project, it only took a few weeks of traveling for work to get off track, and eventually I realized I wouldn't be able to keep to the weekly release schedule.

I really enjoyed the challenge though, and I want to keep the momentum going, and this week, I finally was able to. I picked a BPM of 128 and a general vibe, and improvised my way through the set, and in the end I'm happy with the result. 

I had a lot of fun recording this one. It's very hypnotic, immersive and squelchy techno—one of my favorite styles.
