Christian Tiger School has spent the last few years captivating South Africa with their Electronic, Hip-Hop vibes.  Hailing from Cape Town, Luc Veermeer and Sebastiano Zanasi quickly became artists to watch with their LA Beat Scene inspired tracks. 
 
2015 is set to be a big year for the duo, recently signing to Tommy Boy Entertainment, Christian Tiger School are set to drop their album, “Chrome Tapes”, on June 16th. 
 
“Cinderella Rocafella”, the 2nd single off of the album, is all you need to hear to get a taste of the Christian Tiger School vibe.  Dark synthetic soundscapes transform throughout the track taking the listener on a musical journey down the road less followed. 'Beating Heart - South Africa Vol. 2', a 4 track EP featuring Auntie Flo, Subjective (Goldie's new project with JD from Ulterior Motive), Card on Spokes and The Happy Show. 

Following the debut Malawi album​ last year, this next series of Beating Heart releases focuses on the vibrant sounds of South Africa, sampling field recordings made by Hugh Tracey back in the 1950s, with kind permission from the International Library of African Music.

Further volumes featuring a whole host of talent will be released throughout the summer.

Profits from the series will be used to support:​ the Women's Legal Centre, a group of female lawyers striving for gender equality across South Africa, particularly for black women, whose work has had a huge impact on the country's laws, and continues to do so; and the Access Music Project in Grahamstown where students will be able to learn production skills through remixing field recordings from the ILAM ​archive, learning about their heritage in the process.

Beating Heart will be performing​ summer festival takeovers at Glastonbury, Womad, Port Eliot, Boomtown, Obonjan (Croatia) and Secret Garden Party, with events in Malawi, South Africa and Uganda planned for the autumn.

Thanks to previous​ support, the 'Beating Heart - Malawi' album ​(Rudimental, Kidnap Kid, Clap! Clap!, Luke Vibert, Afriquoi & more) ​h​as​ funded the setting up of a sustainable school feeding program in Lilongwe, now feeding 450 kids once a day. More info at www.beatingheartproject.com

With his 'Curve EP' around the corner London based producer and DJ Jimpster releases his second EP of the year after 'Burning Up / Becoming Cyclonic', which was due January, and delivers three timeless Deep House pieces. 'Simmering Down', a Torture the Artist Exclusive, dives deep into Jimpster's sound arsenal as the artist delivers a dreamy tune that combines beauty, bizarreness and obscureness as stuttering pads are enriched with vocals. But just as grace takes hold the voice vanishes and offers space for Jimpster's precise groove and disposal of harmonically sounding synths. 

Jimpster's EP 'Curve' will be released September 21st, 2018 on Freerange Records.

XOA, led by London based producer and musician Nick Tyson, is set to release debut album ‘Way West’ on 14th June via Five Easy Pieces.

XOA means to look outwards; to draw inspiration from many sources. ‘Way West’ is alive with this: steeped in the rich analogue sonics of the past, the warmth of machines and influence from the sounds of London’s fervent music scene. Featuring a blend of contemporary electronic production and live instrumentation, 70s Afrobeat inspired drums and cosmic melodies are thrust into the present day with strong cues from house and techno.

Three vocalists contribute across the album, with Tyson choosing to work with singers he has a personal admiration and friendship with. Hollie Cook, known to many for her ethereal pop tinged reggae, delivers a sumptuous contribution on ‘Heartland’, adding a beautiful emotional dimension to the horn led track. Lulu Jones’ vocals are treated more as a sample for the garage tinged ‘Call On Me’ and Ruby Wood, of Submotion Orchestra, has worked with Tyson over a number of projects and their shared love of 90s soul comes to the fore on the laid back grooves and sun kissed ‘Only One Thing’.

“When collaborating, especially with vocalists on melodic and lyrical ideas, it’s important to have that personal connection and respect for each other’s craft. That’s why I never ask vocalists to prepare anything in advance for the tracks, I like to get in the room and just see what happens in the moment, to trust each other’s ideas, and for it to be a natural, organic and spontaneous process”.

Collaboration has always been at the heart of the project for Tyson. He plays the bulk of the instruments on the album but invites Marijus Aleksa on drums to provide live energy, extra synth work from Parisian Kenzo Zurzolo, and a notable Rhodes solo from Johnny Tomlinson (a member of Bonobo’s live band) on ‘Osu’.

After well received releases on Soundway Records, Cin Cin (with Wayward) and Banana Hill (with Contours); ‘Way West’ shows another step up for Tyson as a writer and producer.

“It feels like this project is coming alive for me, the music I envisaged in my mind a few years ago is being realised, and I’m proud of how it sounds”.

‘Way West’ is set to be released on 14th June 2019 via London based label Five Easy Pieces (Mo Kolours, Reginald Omas Mamode IV, Natureboy Flako, Royalty, Call Super) on vinyl LP and digital formats.

Tommy Boy Entertainment is a legendary Hip Hop & Electronic label founded in NYC in 1981. The label is credited with launching the careers of notable Hip Hop legends Afrika Bambaataa, Coolio, Queen Latifah, House of Pain, De La Soul, and Naughty By Nature. 

In the late 80's Tommy Boy introduced EDM to mainstream audiences with releases from LFO, Coldcut, and 808 State and is credited with opening the door at Top 40 radio in America again for DJ's with the success of Bob Sinclar's "World Hold On" in 2006.

Known for fusing Electronic music with Hip Hop since its early days, Tommy Boy helped to establish Latin Freestyle and Latin Hip Hop genres with the release of multiple singles and albums from TKA, K7, and Information Society.

In 1989, the label became the first label to market its own clothing line to mainstream consumers via its Tommy Boy Gear line, partnering with brands like Stussy and Carhartt. Tommy Boy continues to license its logo to designers and retailers worldwide including Maharishi and Urban Outfitters.
