These songs are influenced by images from the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold. I’m not sure how this poem came to me, I’m not a big reader of poetry, but there is is. I used several images from the poem to name the songs, as well.

Ah, dear listener! I present myself here with my good buddy Gary, rather sheepish and shamefaced at being absent from this church of sonic jewels for the longest time.  I have been a bad listener, I'm afraid.  Bereft of mojo, time and without my little studio. Mea culpa. 

If you've read this far, you already have a whiff of the legendary about you.

So one day, quite recently,  the Phaigester messages me and opens his raincoat to reveal a select library of stellar little ear-nuggets he's been hiding away. What beauties, I tell thee! What beauties!

Three grabbed me instantly..deep, swirling soundstrata, complex and intriguing in equal measure. 

Perched on my bed, yodelling into the abyss, I attempt to add to his painting.  Teleported into that great,  inkyblack wonderland of transcendent joy again.

Hats off to Gar. Inventive, musical and patient. Thanks for your art and resuscitating me.

It's In The Room EP ThePhaige with Nicholas Ridiculous

Well, its a Monday so that can only mean one thing, Its time for a remix of a song from 2016 that no one asked for!
So here is my alternate version and remix of this awesome song.
Its filled with awesome performances and magic.
As it's an alternate version, there are some differences between this and the original. The intro is completely rebuilt as i didn't have any of the parts. I also decided to use a previous arrangement with a piano solo instead of an acoustic guitar solo, and omitted a keyboard solo. This was mainly done because i genuinely feel like its the best choice for the song, but also because i didn't have them!

This was such a pleasure to work on, in 2016 OR 2023.

Sonata for Guitar No.6

A song inspired by one of my favourite tv programmes, BBC's detectorists.

Words:
Fly on a recce surveying for clues,
a reflection or a sparkle, means the world to you.
Then you swoop down and take it and hide it up high,
a treasure trove of goodies, sway in the sky. 
And we all know.

Sunlight is your accomplice in tandem you toil,
hour after hour, through bush, grass and soil.
Probing for that moment, discover like no other,
decades lay unfound, riches abound.

What you need is shimmering, all kinds of precious things,
like rubys and diamond rings they all catch your eye.
And when you see it glimmering, all kinds of pretty things,
you have to stop never pass on by....magpie.

When you find your rainbow,
with it's own crock of gold.
Keep it to yourself secrets never to be told.
And I'll pop on my top hat and tip it towards you,
a gesture for tradition somewhat long forgotten.
