This is a project that will likely be the rest of my life. 
The Lord gave Moses a song for Israel to keep His commandments, so I feel it safe to say the Lord understands the way music aids in memorization and when the Lord put that song before Israel, He no doubt intended for them to sing it regularly so as to not forget it. 
It seems the Psalms were also sung, or at least most of them clearly were and yet, it seems the last time we had Psalms in modern music, it was around the 1600's. Outside of the old Psalter Hymnal, I'm not able to find the psalms in song form, save for the loose renditions of the psalms found in modern music; however most, if not all that I found of this, loosely follows scripture at best. 

I gave up my secular music, though rejected with repulsion would be a more accurate description. I found Christian music, is ok, but its not the infallible word of God, and as such I found myself often wanting to listen to the audio bible app on my phone while I worked. 
One day though I had hardly touched my guitar in 10 years or so, I picked it up and with 3 chords I put Psalm 23 to music. It was awesome! The song played in my head non stop and it not only encouraged me, but it helped keep my mind on God. Without realizing there are 150 psalms, I tackled Psalm 1, then 2, and I thought, perhaps with Gods help I could do this. 
This is my way of writing Gods word on my heart. And also, these songs are an amazing way to help our household memorize scripture. 

I listen to this music when I work, because thats the exact reason I wrote it. I write these songs as song I enjoy. I play them and my daughters dance around the front room. I sing them to my girls at bedtime. 
Putting them on soundcloud for you to hear, is not why I made this music and its not why I recorded it. I put it here for you, and may God do with that what He will.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the ways of the wicked
Blessed is the man who does not swim in the stream of sinners
Blessed is the man who does not sit in the seat of scoffers 

But his delight is in the law of the Lord

Psalm 3

The Lord is my Sheperd and I shall not want
He brings me to green pastures 
He leads me to still waters
He restores my soul! 

He guides me in paths of righteousness for His namesake

Even though this path I walk has lead me to this valley of darkness 
Death is near but I won’t fear for you are here

Your rod and your staff for discipline and guiding, they protect and guide me
Thank you Lord they comfort me
You’ve prepared a table before me
In the presence of my enemies 
You anoint my head, my cup overflows
Surely goodness and mercy all my days they will follow me and I’ll live with the Lord eternally

Psalm 23

I have no clue what I'm doing. I used to play in bars and as a street performer in Chicago paying bums from my tips because they claimed it was their corner. I got born again during a rough time in my life, hadn't touched my guitar in maybe a decade or so. 
Put Psalm 23 to music as I had memorized it as a kid, the next night I was alone with no tv, no nothing so I put Psalm 1 to guitar, then a few days later I decided I'd the rest of the Psalms to music. Somewhere around Psalm 3 I realized there were 150 of them and this might take longer than I thought. 

I just wanted to memorize the Psalms so I was writing a song and then listening to it until I learned the words, which I know how backwards that sounds lol
Got tired of having to click my audio file in the iPhone note recorder so I started uploading them on Soundcloud for my own sake. 
One night as I lay in bed, somewhere around psalm 6, I realized I still had my 7 notebooks jam packed with all my secular music and it was sitting there as a trophy of my past accomplishments so I woke up and first thing in the morning I burned them all. That afternoon I put Mary's song of Praise to a rap beat which was really outside of my musical style, though perfectly in line with my tastes. Since then I use whatever genre I feel best would help me complete a song. Seeing as the scope is the 150 psalms, the other 38 or so other songs in the Bible plus any other verses I want to memorize I think this is a good idea for preventing everything from sounding the same. Very glad I burnt my secular music. 
When I write a song, I play it for my girls. If they start dancing and running around in circles, then I keep it, otherwise I go a different direction. Ultimately the whole goal is for me and my daughters to eventually memorize all 150 Psalms without hurting our brains with arduous and laborious studying.

While I would PREFER keep these songs 110% word for word, that would get me in trouble with copyright infringement so for each song I sit down with 5 different translations of the Bible and rework them all together into my own  singing Buti "translation"
