Welcome to EP-162 of the NDYD Radio Show. From the outer reaches of the discoverse zooms, our guest this week The Silver Rider, a trans-dimensional traveller and purveyor of fine disco, house, funk and soul. Crash landing in Austin, TX in 1984 and raised as the Earthly son of discotheque proprietors, The Silver Rider, nee’ Davey Schacherl, was fed a steady diet of mono synths, Garage-classics and party culture ethics which sharpened his many talents. Gaining his first club residency by age 18, Davey continued to hone his skills in the Austin club and rave circuit and earned a respected position in the local community. Having since played tunes on both American coasts and provided guest sets in countless major cities, Davey finally put his sights on the studio and began concocting dancefloor magic with his tracks and edits.

Always keeping a deep and disco aesthetic, The Silver Rider’s efforts have found favor with label’s such as Whiskey Disco, Smokecloud Records and Editor’s Kutz and garnered support from global luminaries like Jacques Renault, The Reflex and Eddie C.  Not only has The ‘Rider’s tunes made booties boogie in every hemisphere of the planet, but the boppers are sure to turn out whenever Davey occupies the decks. His sets are infectious, electric, organic and brimming with soul and personality... expect a wide selection of grooves and tempos from the obscure to the euphoric. Spreading stardust and extraterrestrial vibes wherever the cosmos take him, The ‘Rider aims to inject funk into the bloodstreams of millions of un-funky, non-rhythm-having, so called party-people.

The NDYD Radio Show EP162 - guest mix by THE SILVER RIDER - Austin, TX

Esteban otherwise known as Ste Hendry, hails from Liverpool in the UK and has been DJ’ing for almost 30 years. A regular visitor to one of Liverpool’s most iconic music venues, ‘The State’ in 1989 at the time of the emerging acid house scene and frequent visits to Manchester’s legendary Hacienda that same year, he was heavily influenced by the likes of Mike Pickering and Graeme Park’s styles in mixing acid house and disco. 

Over these last three years Ste has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance as a DJ (or his 'mid-life crisis' as he always puts it!) and has slowly built up a reputation for delivering funky sets of disco edits, nu-disco and disco house. More recently he was invited to join the House Theory Radio Show as one of the show's co-hosts alongside Goz (Spin City), Alex McCue and Dirty Old Vinyl (who themselves have recently contributed a mix for the WoNkY Disco). In the last 12 months under the guise of Esteban, Ste has guested on high profile shows such as Disco Daze, Spin City, Puzzle Projects, Brother Bear Sessions and La Vida Liverpool in addition to joining Pookie Knights for the monthly Disco Heaven nights in Wrexham.  His love of all things disco has led solid friendships with some of the biggest names on the scene and he is delighted to share this exclusive mix with us and showcase the sounds of his favourite producers and artists.

I had this idea of doing a spring/summer mix complete with a lazy L.A. daytime disco sunshine vibe, but the wheather surrounding me asks for a autumn mix! Well, maybe my mix will help this thing called summer to arrive in Europe.. This will be a very long "modern L.A. Evening Lazer-Synth-Disco"-mix, because as you can see this is only part 1 and the slow beginning for early evenings. The Late Night-mix will follow soon. If you glue the two parts together you will have a full night on the dancefloor of my dream, going from relaxed to clubby (not too clubby, don't worry..) Guess what part 2 is called...?
