Vibes4YourSoul (aka V4YS) is a Parisian DJ and producer whose musical universe blends together elements of disco, rare groove, afro-latin and soulful indie, with the deeper edge of contemporary house and nudisco sounds. This is the 77th release on Ireland's Elevation and features a classic disco tinged vocal courtesy of Disc Eyes and catchy hooks and grooves by the label boss and is sure to be a future Elevation classic.
Remixes come in two very, groovy and different flavours.
First up is Belgium's Max Telaer (Hustler Trax, House Cookin Records) who delivers a driving, club orientated version full of raw, pulsating energy to shake the bones and get you grooving.

About JAMES FELIX:
Three, smooth-stepping, upward inclining chords take us into “Open Up”, a wonderful cut from a typically hard-to-track-down LP, the excellent “White as Snow” by James Felix. The record was originally released in the early 80's on Christian Label Light Records (along with Kristle Murden's "I Can't Let Go" which you’ll find on The Ladies Of TSTD 2). The whole recording is a sophisticated affair, featuring incredible production and gospel-tinged arrangements, topped by soulful vocals from the man himself. Ralph Carmichael's Light Recording Company was just light years ahead of its time. It won’t surprise you to learn that both James Felix and Kristle Murden emerged from the camp of living vocal legend of Andrae Crouch.
Having demonstrated he had the chops by working with Andre, James gained the chance to release his own solo album on the label. Thus, “White As Snow” was completed with excellent musicians in the CCM (Christian contemporary music, just so you know) field of those days. As ever, music proves God moves in mysteriously smooth ways...

About MAX LEAKE
Ah, those shades… Max Leake was another of those early starters, kicking off his musical journey on piano at the age of 6, graduating into the jazz world of the 1970s – a musical training that would open many doors later. By the age of 18, Max was travelling around the country with doo-wop and vocal jazz acts such as the “Ink Spots” and “The Marcels”.
Fast forward to 1984 and his self-produced “Buns in the Sun” comes out on Visionary Records as a private press. It may not have been a stellar commercial success, but it gained widespread airplay nationally in the USA and some positive reviews. More importantly it was a debut full of catchy, hot-strutting jazz tinged tunes, not afraid to pitch bend when the moment called for it. Since then Max has been recording, composing, arranging and performing with some of the biggest names in jazz. And hey, he won “Best Jazz Keyboardist” in the “In Pittsburgh” music awards in 1989, 1991 and in 1995. These days Max is an adjunct professor at the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University. He’s also the musical director for the actress, producer, and vocalist Tamara Tunie.

STEPHEN ENCINAS
A long overdue inclusion in the Too Slow to Disco series, “Music in Me” by Stephen Encinas is the first song we’ve featured from a Trinidad artist. Encinas had local hits with “Rock-a-bye baby love” and “Music in me” while still in his early twenties. At the end of the 1970s, “Rock-a-bye baby love” gained lots of airplay and a further single followed, the now legendary “Disco Illusion”. The track gained an enthusiastic reissue when Brandon Hocura of Invisible City Editions found copies of it in a warehouse. Re-releasing a track is always a detective job. So, DJ Supermarkt was able to locate Stephen, and they agreed to finally re-release the super rare track. Of course the masters were long lost, and even Stephen lacked a good quality 7”. Cue a rare story of social media leading to a positive heart-warming outcome: Hamburgs Johnny Fliegenpilz, messaged us that he had a decent copy. Finally this killer track could be transferred from the vinyl to a new master by Marco from Analogcut Studio… What a trip!
