Parisian producers – Jacques Bon and Vincent Drux – take a seat with TTA to discuss their specializations inside a shared space and within their debut album, A Long Way. For thirteen years, Jacques Bon managed (the now retired) Paris branch of Smallville Records. Otherwise, Jaques Bon has earned an impressive reputation, releasing on other notable record labels such as Giegling, Live at Robert Johnson, and Mule Musiq. Vincent Drux is a “behind-the-scenes type”; who uproots his technical background as a sound engineer to hone his sonic pallet. While majoring in sound design, Drux recently started his own label, Cabale Records… stay tuned as they launch past the infancy stages. Although this is their first album together, the two are long-acquainted, their first joint track being Fading Sail – released on Lawrence’s Dial Records – in 2020. The duo's like-minded friendship revels in a balanced dynamic of musical intersections. Ideal for those in-between hours, A Long Way (released 7/1/22) is eight tracks, featuring futuresque blends of warm color atop some cooler minimal shades. Despite the standing point, Jacques Bon and Drux’s recent collaboration has requited a positively bittersweet confection.

Mexico City-born, Joze Arce aka Jocan Dekä (1985) is a DJ/Producer with more than 15 years of experience in the local underground scene, becoming one of the most versatile DJs of his generation. Since the beginning of his career, he learned how to break down the preconceptions and patterns used by conventional DJs, always trying to create mixes that can be differentiated from others on the stage.

He has established House & Techno roots, but his vast influences allow him to flirt with a wide range of genres such as Downtempo, Ambient, Electronica, Lo-Fi, and even Funk, Nu Disco, Afro, also reaching Bass Music, Footwork, Drum & Bass and ending up with Experimental music. His great skills for combining genres and expertise on how to mix them all together have defined his work, allowing him to play in most of the emblematic clubs within the underground electronic music scene throughout the country as well as in Mexico City’s signature club scene. 

2014 was a breakthrough year for a bright future; he was chosen to be a part of Boiler Room’s Ballantine’s Journeys #StayTrue in Mexico City, a global event hosted in the most representative cities regarding the world’s electronic scene. Also, during this year, he was awarded in the category of Best Techno DJ in the DJ World Music Conference, an event that takes place in the Mexican capital city.

In 2016, he became part of the SUNDANCE movement, a project that is leading the DJing world to the next level, both physical and spiritual, influenced by the #EcstaticDance movement. This idea originated in Hawaii & Portland, quickly expanding across the Globe, creating a new Yogi scene from the Dancing Music point of view.

Torture the Artist - your source for contemporary electronic music

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
