We’re proud to present the sixth release on flurt — Spectre EP [FLRT006] — a six-track journey from UK producer PiNG (UK), featuring incisive reworks from Mortalyf and Oscar Jones.

The four originals explore stripped-back, micro minimalism—textural, darker sounds unfolding through fractured rhythms, subtle percussive detail, and deconstructed atmospheres. Each track navigates the space between tension and release, inviting careful listening and immersive focus.

Mortalyf and Oscar Jones bring their own interpretations to the EP, adding contrast and dimension. The remixes accentuate PiNG’s hypnotic framework while introducing new twists—off-kilter grooves, punchy low-end energy, and dynamic rhythmic shifts.

With Spectre EP, we continue to explore forward-thinking minimal, delivering six tracks built on mood, precision, and intent.

The second Various Artists compilation on Undertone brings together eight producers from across the US. Each track contributes a distinct voice, from hypnotic grooves and atmospheric textures to harder-edged percussion and driving low-end. Together, they form a cohesive showcase of the label's direction: forward-thinking, floor-tested, and rooted in the raw energy of different flavors of techno.

Across its eight tracks, UTVA002 shifts between deep tension, sharp energy, and moments of release, reflecting the range of moods found in the late-night hours. It's a compilation that captures the individuality of each artist while highlighting the shared spirit that drives Undertone forward.

Toronto-based producer Nautiluss returns for the third release of Mr. Beatnick’s label, Mythstery records, this time under new alias Pyramid Lake. The veteran producer’s new Palms on Fire EP offers 3 club-ready workouts along with a bonus remix by head honcho Beatnick himself.

Opening with the title track, "Palms on Fire" hits hard from the first bar with heavy kicks and distorted hats. Rolling hand percussion and an ominous, “oh no,” vocal cut give the track an almost techno sensibility, while the rounded bass synth and soft melodic lead keep the overall vibe unmistakably deep house. Big man Beatnick flips the track himself on the b-side, switching up the foundation with some vintage drum machines and a fat 303 bassline. The result is a classic old school sound that’s sure to resonate on modern dancefloors.

"Ital Vital" stays in theme by constructing the groove around some dubbed-out industrial percussion. Pyramid Lake keeps listeners unsettled by moving between a darker, polyrhythmic bass line and a floating major-key melody. Tension builds through repetition, and by the track’s midway mark it all begins to seem endless.

Rounding out the EP, Quarion remixes "Cease and Desist" with a thick arpeggiated bassline and paradise pads that are sure to offer the dancefloor some relief after the EP’s preceding heat. Altogether, Palms on Fire is a high-production effort with a lot of umph that has us at Bolting Bits excited to see what else is in store from this new alias Pyramid Lake.

New KAPOTE EP. With remixes by magic BYRON THE AQUARIUS (Sound Signature) and GIOVANNI DAMICO (Lumberjacks in Hell). Toy Tonics founder & main producer Kapote comes back after eight months with a 2 track EP.
Somebody called it Jazz Funk House – and that fits. Crazy flute and rhodespiano solos played by Mathias „Munk“ Modica on Kapote’s heavy funk basslines and rolling drum patterns. It’s house, it’s broken beat.
This is a pre-release to the KAPOTE ALBUM that will be released on Toy Tonics in April.
The music reminds the early 2000 West London sound of Archive Records & Seji as well as the original NYC jazz house from the Kenny Dope and Joe Claussell school. It’s not far from the vibe Gilles Peterson and Bradley Zero have been spreading for years, but the music adds new elements to it. Especially the complex way Toy Tonics co-founder Mathias Munk Modica plays his solos, influenced by the school of Hard Bob and Fusion jazz makes these music special. In fact Modica has been studying Jazzpiano at the Manhattan School of Music before getting into club culture. And Kapote is a big love for the Brazilian Funk sound of the 1970ies. You can hear that.

Anyone whose served time on the dancefloors during Ibiza's more heady days will be up on the flavours showcased here: tribal-tinged, big room grooves full of congas, sax blasts and low, rumbling bass. 

Arthur and Laz met at MURKs famed Monday residency at Coyo Tacos Wynnwood Miami where Casanova is a resident and Baker a guest resident. Heavily influced by the 'Miami sound', I bet these sounds worked just as well out there as they do on Europe's treasured party isle...

Laz and ABs first joint collab is the opener "Makossa". It started off from a few 80s loops out of Bakers vast catalogue, with Casanova whipping them in shape. It’s been battle tested over the last few years, with the subtle play between breakdown and release ratched up super tight. Big smiles all round when this bad boi drops...

“Dale!” features the vocal and production skills of Murk's legendary Oscar. He added the wild saxophone hook and a few other nudges in a late night session at Casanova's little Havana studio, resulting in this fiery tribal house stomper that primed for mainroom play. 

Finally, "BTs Happiness" sees Baker pair up with old friend & ex-wife, Tina b (of "Rockers Revenge", "Tripping on Sunshine" and "Jazzy Sensation" fame) to do some vocalizing. A low pass filter squeezes a whole manner off funky house goodness through on this one: jubilant strings, rolling bassline and glistening guitar licks.

Fabrice Lig Black Monday EP

His most substantial release on Marc Romboy’s label since his ‘Purple Raw’ series a few years back, each track
is written as a special tribute to four people who’ve had a massively positive impact on Fabrice’s life, but have
sadly since passed on. Expressing himself in the most honest, articulate way he can, this one runs deeper than
deep.
‘Jim The Magnificent Fox’ is a dark, strident tribute to FlashForward resident Christophe Adam. A doctor in
criminology and psychology, an exceptional DJ and a dear friend to Fabrice, you can feel the emotion on every
jagged edge.
‘Mr Wa’ follows. Striking poses at every possible opportunity, this dedication to an old school friend in his
hometown Charleroi. Bright, breezy and laced with movement and variation, it’s a celebration of the positive
energy and time Wa always gave to people.
‘Marc’s Tribal Dance’ follows. A hip-shifting, butt-wriggling funk techno workout, this commemorates Marc
Morgan. A gifted French singer, and also Fabrice’s good friend and publisher, he’s another soul who has left us
too soon.
Finally ‘Pivert The Playmobil’. Another firm ally and creative genius from Fabrice’s hometown, Pivert passed
away a few years ago but his impact on Lig has never faded. Light, jazzy and sprinkled with acid, it’s a fittingly
reflective finale for a touching, thoughtful EP.
Four stunning tracks, four beautiful tributes, four great men remembered, one powerful reminder to tell our
friends how much we appreciate them…

Swiss electronic music ambassador Deetron takes on remix duties for Marlene, Joshua James' third installment on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound after releasing Coarse and Journeys In Love last year. Valued and infamous for deeper shades of electronic music respectively House music Deetron's approach to Marlene directly winds into this direction. Provided with a shuffling bass line, multi-tonal chords and repeateded vocals the artists sets the basis for an intriguing remix, which unfolds a deep-housey character as soon as Deetron decides to give the second set of chords nearly half way in the track the space to make it turn from club to lounge to then return to the initial loop and rave throughout the end. Deetron skilfully unites different states of a (club)night in one take and proves his advanced musical thinking in this piece.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
