After a year of silence and their last release on Connaisseur Recordings, Piotr Bejnar and Oskar Szafraniec are back together with a melodic EP this time released by Otake Records, Piotr’s own label. “Ballada o Januszku” came up within a few days of sitting and experimenting in the studio. The EP features two long storytelling tracks. "Ballada o Januszku“ has a more melodic smooth house approach with plenty of unexpected directions, while "Jugo“ goes deeper and adds a slighty more techno twist to the production.

Those tasty Glasgow types Manakinz (Sub Club legend Harri and Max Raskin) are back with their third EP for Monologues, filled with another three beguiling, heavyweight, innovative belters.'Electric Bob' kicks off with the dreamiest of chords and heady vocal delays floating over a chugging groove, before 'Lovely Lugz' takes things in a moodier direction with Hamish Hay's infectious afrobeat-flavoured guitar licks, tribal percussive rhythms and a stomping bass groove. 'Nifty McPherson' rounds the EP off in tripped-out style, with hypnotic FX and bugged-out synths bringing a psychedelic edge to this varied EP.

“Lorraine (Original Mix)”
Setting the tone is the original mix of “Lorraine” which is a cross fusion of Deep House & Tech House containing all the right elements we love such as; that TB303, glitchy percs across the board, and even a pinch of soulful vocals. This is a real driver and is bound to lift the energy of any club at any given time. Bouncy, chuggy & clean are just a few words to describe this. Audio Analysts are going to be a household name this year.

“Lorraine (Funk D’Void Remix)”
We would like to give a very warm welcome to Funk D’Void as he provides his first ever Remix for us. To have this legend interpret our track “Lorraine” made us very happy going into the new year. Funk has played across the globe in places such as; Berlin, Mascow, Singapore, Sydney, Detroit, Toronto, Tokyo & many more... releasing on labels like; Bedrock, Cocoon, Lucidflow, Soma & Tronic to name a few. To put it lightly, the guy knows what he is doing! He has taken all of our original elements & managed to piece together a sonic masterpiece that although comes across as a Deep House tune initially, actually has a lot in common with a Techno track. The underlying synth for starters introduces & finishes the song by giving it a real gritty feel. The journey continues to expand whilst your mind keeps finding new additions to contemplate as the track progresses. Everything is where it should be here... and all sits very nicely with each other.

“Lorraine (Tony Lionni Remix)”
Following on we have House music maestro Tony Lionni’s Remix! You may remember back in June 22’ we had an incredible EP from him to mark our third release (AR003) well... he’s done it again. A pure classic from the very first loop this song has all the textures and elements you need to have the boys & girls in euphoria. The way in which Tony evolves his pads & chords throughout the arrangement is a testament to his years of perfect the craft. House music at it’s finest. 

“Lorraine (MINT JPN Remix)”
Last but by no means least we have another new addition to the Analytic Crew. MINT JPN, born in 1989 started making Electronic Music in 2012, has had tracks supported by heavyweights; Darius Syrrosian, Danny Tenaglia, Shiva San & Steve Lawler. We love his take on this single and think he has come up with a great modern style thumper that will be finding it’s way onto festivals soundssound-systems this party season. Hard hitting Tech House with a rolling bassline & drum groove that will be getting it’s fair share of hands in the air. This slammer has perfect build ups to raise your excitement through the roof.

Exclusive: Lyon - Get 2 U (Body N Soul Mix)

Manchester-based label Hudd Traxx simmers its first release this year, which features four cuts, which have massively influenced the label, its boss Eddie Leader and the music he enjoys and has been releasing as well as producing throughout the years. The first volume (of more to come) contains music from Todd Terry, Danell Dixon, The Diggers and long-time label friend Jovonn under his Lyon moniker. All tracks have been licensed and remastered for the release and can now be enjoyed in high-quality on both: vinyl and digital. However, it's the Lyon-track, Jovonn's '99 artist pseudonym, which has won our heart. A classic House-tune with a classy bassline, so strong and pushy that no feet can stand still as soon as the first beat hits the floor. An organ, a vocal snippet as well as a flanger-effect round off this simply kept beauty. It does not need much to keep your feet moving but surely the mind and simplicity of a master like Jovonn, who's been releasing and producing quality House music since day one.

The Cacao crew pay their respects to their favourite classic tunes. While we’re constantly flooded by daily rapid-fire releases, there are some timeless gems that always ignite the dancefloors. The following tracks come from influential artists that have left their mark on the Cacao team’s sound world, blending perfectly into their sets. 
At number one we have Rodriguez Jr. of the mobilee family with his Kids of Hula belter. A playful groove serves as centerpiece, dotted by exotic fauna sounds that reach for the tropics. Alternating percussive pads, the fittingly tribal drums bring the entire melody together, making it a perfect peak-time track.
Dub Taylor’s aptly titled Hidden From the Mind showcases a fully immersive tribal experience. Kicking off with wooden percussive loops that make for an instant earworm, we’re gradually greeted with distorted vocals and an ample groove that blend into the perfect dub tech journey.

The first B-side takes us further into the house jungle, with youANDme’s deep edit of Lawrence & Seth Troxler’s Miles in Aphrika. A stern echoed vocal presents itself as the leitmotif, while the melody progressively unfolds. Metallic pads and subtle synth grabs add to the atmosphere, creating a sense of space and amping up the overall intensity.
Audiofly turn Martin Eyerer and Benno Blome’s Piano Roll into a jazzy house exploration with major dancefloor appeal. Bouncy yet deep, the bassline keeps the body moving, while the {Rhodes} piano chords create the perfect immersive groove. One to heat up the atmosphere at any point during a set!

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.
