Italian boutique label Alzaya kickstarts its year with five fresh new takes on the label's first various artist EP ever and seemingly the beginning of a new series on the label. Known for their carefully chosen artists and tracks, Alzaya continues to walk this path with the their Various Artists 001 delivering music in the label's signature style, meaning Disco-esque moments meet Deep House to kiss the floor awake. Brooklyn-based producer Aaron Seth Vaslow, better known under his Tape Hiss moniker, delivers a dreamy, almost Balearic House track that's bubbling over with emotions sweeping over the floor like the track's name Scirocco, which could be both: a reference to the car or the wind coming from the Sahara. Whatever, it may be, the feel-good vibes on Tape Hiss track are inevitable, catchy and foremost an allegory of harmony.

Alzaya's VA 001 will be released on July 1st, 2022.

'For twenty years, Dynarec has been pushing the boundaries of electro on some of the best known labels. Little will his listeners know, there is another side to this prolific French producer’s machines. Speakwave is a lesser known, and heard, moniker of this analogue artist and the debut vinyl release of this nom de plume is set for release on Bordello A Parigi. Fans of the Dynarec sound are treated to the same wonderous compositions and melodic structures with something else added. “Cartographic Venture” is a ten minute introduction to this new style. Crisp drum patterns support cold flourishes and stabbing synthlines before distant vocals arrive. The track balances the frostier edges of electronics and wave to create a lonesome and longing synth pop ballad. “Coming On Monday” has a different energy. The pop element of the predecessor remains, lyrics are vocoder dipped while confident key shifts are countered by strong rhythm patterns. The closer, like the 12”, defies definition. Burbling notes and sharp snares give an edge to “Exposition To Revolution”, but there is also a more inviting nurturing side coming through in the spiralling skyward melody. A release that shows another fascinating side of this multifaceted musician.'

C4STRO, Klai, Martim Tonic, Lou de Melo, Deaf Feet & 4In launched their Oasis Record label a few months ago via a three-track, multi-artist missive. For release number two, they've repeated the exercise, with two rising stars joining C4STRO on the EP. His cut, 'Got 2 Feet', is a gradually growing deep house loop jam in which spacey sounding synth motifs, echoing melodic motifs and raw, weighty electronic bass wrap round a rolling, disco-tinged house groove. Ramboiage continues the hypnotic loop-jam theme on thickest, bass-heavy stomper 'Rebaldaria', while British producer VRRS reaches for the filters on glistening, seriously summery disco-house cut 'Dancing in the Groove'.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
