Dub Animals’ is a raw, unfiltered LP born from two years of spontaneous creation. It immerses listeners in the shadowy realms of experimental, unhyped deep electronic music—where rhythm meets texture and intuition emerges. An exploration of sound that invites curiosity and introspection.


Bio: 

Sebastian Russell, a French-British electronic music artist, has been making waves in the electronic scene since 2004. With a rich history of creativity and collaboration, he has released numerous remixes for notable artists such as Will Clarke, Born Dirty, Dapayk, Tomoki Tamura, and Mark Henning. His track “You Freak” was even featured on Richie Hawtin’s mix CD for DJ Mag, showcasing his talent to a wider audience.

Between 2004 and 2010, Sebastian was an integral part of the Multi Vitamins collective—a vibrant hub for music, labels, and parties in East London. This unique collective provided a platform for international producers to meet, perform, and experiment with new ideas every Tuesday night. Here, he collaborated with artists like Mark Henning, Italoboys, Argy, Marco Shuttle, Ekkohaus, Gummiz, Arnaud Le Texier and Margaret Digas, fostering a community driven by a shared love for electronic music.

In recent years, Sebastian released the dreamy experimental electronica track “Fog” on Laurent Garnier’s esteemed Cod3qr label. This track has received significant radio play and positive feedback from DJs around the globe, further solidifying his place in the contemporary electronic landscape.

With over 20 EPs to his name and live performances across Europe alongside artists like Bruno Pronsato, Arnaud Le Texier and Matthew Dear during the minimal techno era, Sebastian has established himself as a versatile and innovative artist. He also has experience writing music for advertising and theatre during his 19 years in London.

After exploring various styles of electronic music and taking a brief hiatus, Sebastian is back with renewed energy, diving deep into experimental sounds. Now based in south of France, he continues to push boundaries and redefine what electronic music can be. Keep an ear out for this trailblazer as he embarks on his next sonic adventure.

Yoichi Hayashi's solo project DO SHOCK BOOZE has influences ranging from half-time D&B to broken techno.
He is a Japanese producer experimenting with psychedelic polyrhythms and runs an indie label focused on tribal dance works called TOTEM TRAXX.
This recorded mix is a Live DJ set performed at a Metaverse event.

Japanese record label Totem Traxx prepare to unveil 'Dub Animals', the latest long-player from French-British producer Sebastian Russell...Our pick, 'Jungle Pareidolia', submerges the listener into a swirling vortex of pre-industrial mysticism. It’s as if ancient rituals are resurrected in the undisturbed expanse of forgotten mangroves, where Russell’s drum programming warps the mind like a trance-infused cinematic pause in the throes of ego death. A dynamic, drunken rhythm dances alongside the rhythmic pulse of the canopy, while trance-laden oscillations set the atmosphere ablaze. As the track unfurls, a delirious blend of tension-filled bells and ethereal chants calls forth something primal - beckoning the listener into the very heart of the panacea.

TOTEM may be a supernatural worship in which each group or person experiences a supernatural relationship with specific music, Mother Nature, flora and fauna, or extraterrestrial civilizations, and wishes to receive special powers and blessings.
Now we embark on a journey to discover new energies yet to be discovered in an encounter of electronic tribal dance, Jungle flavors and DUB, contemporary music.
