toucan sounds starts 2025 with a collaboration between Abelson Live, aka Brian Abelson, and XHOSA, with the ‘Wanted To Know You’ EP landing on the label 14th February 2025. First up is the original House mix of Abelson Live and XHOSA’s ‘2 Know U’, a low-slung groove with bouncing chords and pumping drums that bring a timeless vibe while XHOSA’s vocal adds soul. Their Acid mix then layers in subtle 303 lines that bubble up through the mix and grow evermore central to the groove before XHOSA flips the original into a humid and steamy sound with smartly rated vocals shimmering about the mix next to spoken word snippets and seductive pads.

Next, ‘2 Know U’ is remixed by Solar System, consisting of Aaron Tripp and Brian Abelson, known for curating open-air, solar-powered parties in New York under the same monicker. They up the melodics as lush chords bring cosmic rays of light, the original vocal taking on a heavenly charm. Lastly, JWords steps up to remix Abelson Live and XHOSA’s original track with her jackin’ version featuring rugged drums and rave-ready whistles, which will blow up the 'floor next to the harmonised vocals.

Over the last 10 years, XHOSA has established herself as a trailblazing artist within the New York scene and beyond, playing anywhere from VIA FEST to SXSW. Here, she joins forces with Abelson Live, whose versatile sounds have appeared on labels like Beats in Space, Sinderlyn, and Love Injection (with Jennifer Vanilla) and once before on the celebrated Brooklyn label Toucan Sounds, where he worked with John Barera on their collaborative album, ‘The Arc’.

With Abelson Live & XHOSA’s ‘Wanted To Know You’ EP, toucan sounds once again showcase what New York House music is all about.

Ralph Rodriguez, aka Ralph Session, is a NYC DJ and producer blending New York and Chicago house styles, with support from Jimpster, Mr. V, Cinthie, and Laurent Garnier. Rooted in NYC’s club culture and dance scene, he’s collaborated with artists like Juliet Mendoza, Mr. V, DJ Fudge, and Carla Prather, shaping his dynamic sound. 
2024 was a milestone year for Ralph, featuring releases on top house labels like Freerange, Local Talk, Quintessentials, and SlothBoogie. Key highlights include his EP *Brooklyn Heavy Hitters* on Local Talk, the summer hit “Freak” with Juliet Mendoza on Freerange, and his *For The House Heads* EP on Quintessentials. His sets and tracks continue to ignite dance floors worldwide.
