"Progress" by Sound Strider is the lead single from his debut album “Mechanical Animist”, a raw, unapologetic critique of western development philosophy exposing the dark side of capitalism, consumerism, and systemic oppression. Through a relentless, rhythmic cadence over a churning post-industrial groove, the lyrics echo the existential frustration of a world sacrificed at the altar of profit and power. 

"Progress" is more than just a song; it’s a rallying cry for introspection, rebellion, and liberation from a culture that equates growth with domination. Mechanical Animist, Sound Strider’s first full-length record is a sonic wildfire—a delirious, brain-expanding rampage through the wreckage of modern existence, drenched in a fever dream of poetry and rebellion, wrapped in a shape-shifting cloak of post-industrial weirdness. Built from the scraps of myriad sessions and samples, his sonic steed rides a churning maelstrom of electronic soundscapes that devour genres and spit out something wholly unclassifiable, a code-breaking ritual performed by a mad prophet in the heart of the machine. Across a tangled labyrinth of styles and scenes, he smuggles a hard-hitting critique of modernity, delivered with poetic precision and searing intelligence. A defiant shout from humanity’s animistic core. It’s a critique, a protest, and a hymn all at once—turning the cold steel of progress into a bonfire of anger, hope, and raw unfiltered truth.

Across eight incendiary tracks, Sound Strider confronts the ugly truth of life in a system that smothers its animistic roots beneath a mountain of greed and grinding machinery, dissecting the brutal collision between humanity’s ancient, animistic soul and the cold gears of progress.
