Hello! I made a special mix for Misk FM.
The selection holds several gems I've been keeping in my personal collection and it translate the sound of New York, Chicago and Detroit as scenes and cities.
I've spend a lot of time figuring out the proper way to mix them while respecting the origins of each piece as it's important for me to curate them following a story line.

@yassine__hammar tries to unveil the several faces of his eclectic collection in different soundscapes, serving different stories. It's also his way of proving that, by melting down genres into one atmosphere, you'll get to see a unique beauty within.

This episode is about the duality of Life, of birth and death - the moments that hang in between. It's also about making peace between Nature and Technology and trying to access the mystical side in this digital era. The beauty of this mix lies in time and in the transitions, hear the evolution of the story/sound to get the whole picture, he advises.

The Thin Line Between House, Techno & Acid

I'm super thrilled to be announcing my new residency with one of my all-time favorite radios, @radioalhara . The show's name is "Lost In Transition" which is the same name I chose for my first series of mixes back when I started learning how to squeeze my infinite choices of selections into the proper format of a mix. 

Lost In Transition is a musical ode to my love for the looks-so-simple-yet-not-much the act of weaving several tracks to make a story out of it (my own definition of mixing ) which seemed like another way to write only this time, the words are rhythms or/and melodies. 

If you think about it outside the entertainment context, a mix can prove the human link between several cultures via the musical bond between multiple tracks. A proper DJ who recognizes this superpower can, in the presence of a mixed crowd, reach what politics failed to do : Make peace between nations.

I mean, if you think about it, producers and DJs like my brother @moving0still contributed to alter and clear the perception towards MENA culture and heritage through their work more than fucking gov' lol (shout-out to him btw because this show comes following his invitation to play in his show few months ago). 

This show will later include guest mixes by great artists who, I believe, are contributing into making the world one thanks to their universal knowledge and vision of Music (epic names are included!!).

The visual covers which, to me, make up half of the concept will exclusively be @sofiasofiasofiasofi work as she's the only one capable of, not only translating what I want to express, but also push me to innovate, just like the case for this debute episode where her work came before mine. 

Regarding the first episode which will be streamed at midnight, I chose to make it into both an introduction of what I do and who I believe in and a taste of what I'm into (probably every piece of good Music so good luck lol)

He turned out to be resident of one of Seoul's greatest clubs, Nyapi, and a pioneer of @studionamsan_, a station that invites local and international artists in a beautifully-designed space. THE CALLING W/ HASA: IMMERSIVE SEOUL HOUSE SPIRIT - 8 MAR 23

I feel both excited and honored to have Max Essa as my first guest for my Lost In Transition show on Radio AlHara, an incredible artist who has been active as a DJ and producer since the early 90s, initially releasing music on labels such as Warp Records and Paperecordings and DJing alongside the infamous D.i.Y Sound System.

I recall the moment I first listened to his work, a few years ago, which felt like a revelation to me as it followed no rule and surely, couldn't be categorized into one genre.

His productions, which were mainly inspired by natural elements like the sound of waves crashing on the shores, held a very organic touch and a whole package of emotions, going from Joy to Melancholia, which were sometimes present all at once in just one track.

No wonder that his work, for labels like Is It Balearic? Recordings, went on to be playlisted by leg-ends such as Andrew Weatherall and David Mancuso who are best known for their quests of emotionally-engaging and beautifully-weaved grooves. His albums for the Japanese major label, Victor Entertainment (Vacations Never Taken' 2015) and Music For Dreams (Lanterns' 2018), plus EPs for the Italian label, Hell Yeah! Recordings and a constant stream of remixes, have shown him to be a deeply imaginative and prolific producer.

For the past decade Max has held two DJ residencies in Tokyo, Lone Star at the legendary, Bar Bonobo with Ken Hidaka and Dr Rob (Ban Ban Ton Ton) and Fridays at the ever-popular Aoyama Tunnel.

The mix is a condensed version of the kind of things he plays for the first 2-3 hours of the night at his 12 year residency at Aoyama Tunnel in Tokyo

This invitation came after a previous invitation for another show of mine on @loose.fm where he delivered one of the finest mixes I had the pleasure to share.
Eclectic, hypnotic, groovy, super deep, energetic.. These are not enough words that can describe the style and the storytelling of this young gem whose sound reflects a true dedication for digging, collecting and sharing music in a way that highlights the beauty of each record individually and collectively in the whole story he's telling ✨

In homage to the foundation of this radio and to preserve purpose within this endeavor, I'm inviting those who dared to raise their voices and unite to scream the truth.

While some seek to detach the human from the artist, I anchor intention as the essence of this concept, therefore empowering guests to express themselves in any form they choose.

For this inaugural episode, I'm happy to invite Paris-born, Berlin-based (who also happens to be Algerian 🇩🇿♥️) selector, @stellasnacks whose sound perfectly reflects her being : a fearless spirit, uncovering harmony amidst diversity, seeking beauty in every moment.

As the founder of @body_language_bln and a resident DJ at Cocktail D'amore, she reigns as the queen of extended sets, a masterful storyteller capable of uniting all on the dancefloor.

With division, wars, genocides, violence, and despair filling up so much of our lives, I need to nurture my inner sanctum with energy and frequencies that keep my spirit alive, so I made this mix. 

An hour of sounds dedicated to strengthening the spirit through emotional release and energetic care.

This year, she launched @bouiboui_catering , a catering project that elevates the culinary experience by exploring vibrant and soulful cuisine 🥘

For today’s episode of Collective Memory on @radioalhara , I’m thrilled to host @sweetnightjoe (Joseph Russell)—a British-Italian (Napoletano!) DJ, music selector, and producer whose work has resonated across labels like @early_sounds_recordings , Rett Fletta, and Bio Rhythm.

In 2020, he brought a new dimension to his artistry by signing to @peggygou_ 's @gudurecords with his techno project JRMS, but his primary focus remains Sweetnighter, the monthly club night he’s been curating in London since 2018.

Held in iconic venues like @brilliant_cnrs , @giant___steps , @nighttalesldn , and @thejagodalston , Sweetnighter captures the essence of early dance gatherings with its vibrant, borderless grooves.

With over 15 years of DJing and record collecting, Joseph’s passion for the organic sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s shapes his sets, making every performance a unique journey.

At the fateful crossroads where electronic music and video games collide, it is said that @seriousa was born, destined by a sacred mission: to weave together the threads of sound, pixels, and soul into a singular, transcendent formula 🧬

For more than 20 years now, the French producer and DJ has been collecting records (and video games) and developing her own sound to be a bridge between the ancient and the unknown.

Her sonic blueprint, a living testament to her journey, echoes the influence of her dearest inspirations from Tokyo, Detroit, and her own city, Paris ⭐

Believing in Time and momentum, she chose to unveil her first (and highly-refreshing) chapter in 2017 with an EP titled "Return Me to Savara" on Blorp. This was followed by the extraordinary " Everything Human Need" E.P in 2019, released on Sweden’s @humankingstagram label, and her exceptional 2021 release with Australia’s @iliorecords . In 2023, she contributed to the Harmonic Frequencies Volume 1 compilation, alongside artists such as @damar.davis and @mrredley , on London’s @naturalfrequencyrecords .

For today’s journey, and despite being renowned as a true House, Hip Hop and Funk aficionado, she once again chose to push the limits and embrace us with a rare deep and cosmic Techno mix 🌌

We might be in different cities right now, but I’m sure we all need something to refresh our bodies and souls..a special mixtape to share with loved ones, a slice of 🍉 in hand, the Mediterranean breeze kissing our skins, and dreams of a peaceful world 🌞

To curate this journey, I invited someone who truly embodies the Mediterranean spirit: my dear friend and one of Napoli’s brightest gems, @bassolino.sound .

Dario Bassolino (aka Dario Bass) is a producer, pianist, and composer whose work spans collaborations with @nicolaconteofficial , @lndfk , Pink Siifu, Nu Genea, and more. His music carries forward Naples' rich tradition, channeling the energy of artists like Toni Esposito and James Senese, and the cinematic textures of ‘70s and ‘80s poliziotteschi soundtracks.

His debut album (and one of my personal favorite albums of all time) Città Futura, out via @periodicarecords and @jakartarecords , is a tribute to this ever-evolving musical landscape.

Napoli is such a special and important city and I think everyone who's been there gets me. It's not only bursting with life, but also stands as a powerful symbol of cultural resilience and resistance, echoing all the way back to the days of the Roman Empire.

It’s also the closest European city to Tunisia, my motherland. From their symbols (the same red pepper we use to make Harissa is actually their lucky charm) to their lifestyle, everything revolves around hope, nostalgia, and community. There’s a common sense of intense realness that might strike you hard at first, but with time, you’ll understand it’s mostly because we live in a world full of hypocrisy, and we Mediterraneans simply say things as they are.

During my visit and conversations with my brother Massimo De Lena (@nu_genea ), @gigitesta__ , and @davide__damico , I witnessed how Neapolitan artists build their unique sound through research, patience, and reverence for their roots. Maybe that’s just our Mediterranean way : we take our time.

I wrote this on my way back from Tunisia to Paris, Bassolino’s mixtape in my ears, eyes lost in the blue, hoping that soon, we’ll all be by the sea, free, sharing a 🍉 in hand together.

A new month, a new journey! I’m very happy to host my dear friend and excellent producer @rees.mp3 for a special episode of Collective Memory on @radioalhara 🦎

I’ve known Rees for years, ever since my time in Tunisia, where his productions were already reaching me across borders.

Although we've already been connected way before, Life brought us together for the first time in person at @dkmntl in 2022, right on the dancefloor after @hunchmusic and @antalheitlager unforgettable closing set. It was one of those encounters that felt destined: the connection was immediate, sincere, and full of recognition.

Rees is a remarkable artist with a sound that balances weight and subtlety, emotion and drive. His productions and DJ sets invite you into a timeless space, euphoric yet introspective, weaving influences that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant. Beyond the music, his kindness and authenticity shine through, making his sound all the more powerful.

An avid producer, label head, and digger, Rees’ sets move lovingly through his vast collection, flirting with leftfield house, italo, trance, wave, downtempo, and other cosmic obscurities.

His discography follows a similar path, connecting the dots between his diverse influences and leading him to release on the likes of @bordelloaparigi , @permanentvacationrecords , and @palmstrax ’s @cwpt.club .

In 2023, he co-founded @magicritmo , a label dedicated to exploring the weird and the wonderful through lost reissues, boundary-pushing compilations, and future classics.

From the same vision, @eternalsunfestival was born : a festival that hosts highly-eclectic artists and open-minded dancers in an atmosphere of freedom and curiosity.
