Rave-loving rule breakers Younger Than Me take the reins on the next Nein Records release, with Curses and Man2.0 stepping up to remix. Younger Than Me is the duo of Marcello Carozzi and Francesco Mingrino , a pair that have a recognisable sound linking old rave and newer influences from the European club scene. They are resident DJs at monthly party Futura and have also played cult spots like Salon Zur Wilden Renate, BAR Rotterdam, Griessmuehle and many more. They already released with Bordello in Parigi, Relish Records and Tusk Wax and are co-founders of the 90’s Wax project. The opener ‘No Regrets’ is a rugged and brain frying disco-techno track. Stark synth lines twist and turn over heavy drums as wild, flaming percussion brings energy up top. It is perfectly dark and raw and pure dance floor dynamite. The superb remix is from Curses, a Berlin based artist known for blending rock & roll with the darker side of disco. In his hands ‘No regrets’ becomes a strobe lit mix of EBM, New Wave, post-punk and psychedelic synths that jerks your body into action. Then comes UK talent and Det Sync and Flight Recorder associate MAN2.0 with another excellent remix that has metallic hits, arpeggiated bass and bouncing chords bringing the dystopian disco vibes. Last of all is the arresting ‘Punk Rave’, a 170bpm gabber banger with stiff industrial chord stabs and overdriven kicks. It’s a perfectly rigid groove with haunting pads that cannot fail to ignite the club. This is refreshingly unapologetic rave and techno for those who like maximal

Hard to pick a favourite from the package but today's pick comes from @Colossiomx, who once again showcases his unique brand of techno music, which is influenced by Krautrock, psychedelia, Can, Chac Mool and The Golden age of Mexican cinema.

To celebrate its 2nd anniversary, Ola Radio is launching a series of three compilations, bringing together 43 artists with plural aesthetics, like Ola Radio’s musical selection.

« Ola Compile vol.1 - Bande passante » is the first in this three-part series. Its release is scheduled for January 14, 2021 (Ola Radio's anniversary).
The release inaugurates the meeting between several universes in a free creative space where downtempo, dub, techno, leftfield and ambient intersect to form a coherent and nuanced whole. This is the result of 14 artists of multiple influences, from Bordeaux and elsewhere, all driven by the same love and passion for music.

SIMPLE EXPOSITION are Insulaire and Blumm, two members of the long-standing Bordeaux-based French crew tplt, join forces on a new adventure, mixing their various influences to forge a new sound, hopefully crafted for the future. Away from the decks like all of us, they forcefully returned to the coziness of home studio and spent the never-to-be-talked-about-again-year brewing with care the material upon which they could one day return behind the controls of a sound system.

With episode #54 we would like to introduce and welcome Berlin-based DJ & producer PΛЯΛПD (Parand) to our family. 

Her musical roots as a classical pianist led her to electronic music at an early age, which quickly developed into an obsession she pursued with great passion.
Pλяλпd used the resulting broad insights in her first experiments with producing tracks and DJ-ing, quickly finding her taste and developing it accordingly.
 
What followed, despite the Corona crisis, was a big year for Pλяλпd in 2020. With releases on labels such as Crobot Muzik, Diffuse Reality and NURSE, as well as a residency at our club, her efforts paid off and bode well for a busy 2021.
More of her productions are expected to see the light of day on labels like Zwaartekracht Records and Specimen. 

Of course, we are also hoping to open our doors again at some point, even if it's with reduced capacity, to hear more of her sets at one of our floors. We are happy to have her on board.

Arsonist Recorder presents a selection of Vaxxer remixes from some brilliant electro producers, the brothers, and sisters of the Specimen Records camp. 

Its certainly been a weird year for sure, the title “Vaxxer” in 2020 was chosen back when I first saw this word popping up in some article, very early on in the Corona-saga. Who would have thought it would have become such a mainstay expression in our everyday lives hardly one year later. It has become yet another way to label people and put us into groups: “Vaxxers” and “anti-vaxxers”, another detail in the evolution towards a dystopia that is not happening in movies but in real day-to-day life.

Just a track name at first, we decided to use it also as the title for the whole EP which eventually was released in April 2020 on Specimen Records, and like anything virus-related it started living its own life, growing stronger as more DJ’s were picking it up: Dave Clarke, Solid Blake, DJ Stingray, Ralph Lawson, ADJ, to name but a few.

Now, a year ahead, it brings me great pleasure and honour to present these exclusive remixes and interpretations of Vaxxer, the artists involved are big inspirations and one by one true hero's of mine, most of whom have become dear friends in these difficult times. When these remixes started coming in, I'm in awe of the sonics that presented to me and I'm proud to present The Vaxxer remixes.
