29번째 vurt podcast는 이탈리아 로마 출신의 딥테크노 스페셜리스트 Feral의 디제이 세트와 함께합니다. Hypnus 레코드의 초창기 멤버중 한명으로, 딥테크노 정신을 본질적으로 구현하였다고 평가되는 Feral은 최근 자신의 레이블 Aube Rouge를 설립하며 새로운 비전을 향해 한걸음 더 나아가고 있습니다.

The 29th vurt podcast features a DJ set by Feral, a deep techno specialist from Rome, Italy. As one of the earliest members of Hypnus Records, Feral, who is considered to have essentially embody the spirit of deep techno, is taking a step further with his new vision, recently founded his label Aube Rouge.

Marked by his awakened sensibility to depth, Feral consistently carries a thread of spirituality throughout his work.  He has inherently embodied the spirit of deep techno, of which defines Hypnus Records, through his passion for audio engineering, hardware experimentation and fascination for percussive instruments.  Feral’s affinity for the shamanic calls of the tribal drum have led him across the world to discover and nurture his defining sound. Finding comfort in the solitude of his studio, Feral’s visions emerge in the crepusular hours of his native city, Rome.  With a heightened sense of spatial awareness, the sounds of Feral unearth the path of his multidimensional world, transporting the listener to a haunting, yet grounding refuge within.

For our twenty-fourth installment we've invited Orca Silent, he is an experimental electronic artist from Coast Salish Territory, blending nature’s raw energy with deep, hypnotic techno and ambient soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from the rugged landscapes off Vancouver Island, their music merges field recordings with generative sound, creating a sonic journey that resonates with depth.

Live performances are a dynamic journey of evolving drones, jungle polyrhythms and complex textures, shaped by granular synthesis and spatial audio techniques. These elements come together to transport audiences into immersive, three-dimensional environments, where sound and space interact in real-time.

Recent releases on Oslated, Secuencia Temporales and forthcoming on Huinali Recordings have gained recognition from the deep end community, with original production sets released on platforms Delayed, Deepbreakfast, and Codecast. Witness the rolling energy of bush tested, Pacific Atmospherics, celebrated coast to coast from Future Forest, through Wonderment, Cascadia NW and beyond.

"Submerge is a rural techno gathering, centred around organic and left-field producers providing dynamic live performances. Evening originated in dreamy, subtle environments evolving into peaktime passages with a heavy emphasis on cold electronica. Closed out the night with this immersive project, modulated over twelve channels and shared on the traditional lands of the T’Sou-ke First Nation in Sooke BC."

As we roll onto  Episode 325 we are joined by ABSIS, a true pioneer of the Barcelona Electronic music scene. This show is an exclusive Live Recording of his Warmup set at LAUT CLUB Barca a few weeks ago!

ABSIS is a Barcelona-based DJ and producer known for his deep and introspective Techno music. He has been a regular in the Barcelona scene since the late 90s, performing at events like The Loft (Razzmatazz) and Sonar and Mostra. ABSIS explores the deeper side of electronic music, seamlessly transitioning between Ambient and Techno. He has released music on labels like Hivern Discs, Oslated, and Huinali Recordings.

Wanderwelle - A Watery Grave [@silent-season]

Phil van Dulm and Alexander Bartels, musically known as Wanderwelle, produce electronic music that balances between the genres of ambient and experimental techno. Last year, their debut album ‘Lost in a Sea of Trees’ was released by the Canadian label Silent Season. The album’s main sources of inspiration were the rich Slavic folklore and the ancient pagan tribes that once roamed the European woodlands. The artists collected field recordings in Russian, Czech and Dutch forests. Throughout the album the ominous howling of the winds and other natural sounds play a prolific role. Within 48 hours the double LP was sold out worldwide, the repress just in a day. Wanderwelle closed their year with a 2.5 hour live set at the legendary Tresor, Berlin.

This year a new album will be released on Silent Season, which is inspired by the last years of the life of Paul Gauguin that he spent on the island of Tahiti. 'Gathering of the Ancient Spirits' tells the alternative history of his search for a land which is untouched by modern society and whose inhabitants were still dependent on the gifts of nature and connected to their ancestors.

Next episode of our podcast series is currated by Hydrangea. She got our attention since her very beginings just few years ago. The music she creates doesn't rush on tempo, so she can carefully make a tour in between the flowing soundscapes and dreamy pads. Since her birth she always was tightly connected with nature, which is her inexhaustible source of inspiration. Even though it is not a long while since the day she started to put out material, she gained respect of numerous members of the ongoing scene of deep techno and relased music on labels such as Silent Season, Annulled or the most recent Natch Elements.
Roots of our friendship are bringing us back to the year 2017, when she performed together with Milena Kriegs (Milena Glowacka) and Inner Shapes on party organized by our collective.

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing to fit the patriarchal, neoliberalist mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us.

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal.

Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

Each month we invite an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate modes of existence that reject hetero- patriarchal systems of oppression.
