For the 10th International Drone Day, we are very happy to share Transience's 50th contribution on Cashmere Radio. For this auspicious occassion we have invited Menou and Paul Josef to join host Lou Drago in the joy of droning. Lou begins the episode with a new work that takes elements of a recent work Still, and reimagines these components in a more narrative form to take listeners on a journey, Menou's hardware synth live set comes next, full of emotion and enthralling the listener before landing in a Japanese melodic ending. Paul Josef's serene modular synth live set closes the episode with gentle swelling harmonics that leave listeners with a warm embrace.

Our August issue brings you another live improvised recording from our very own project PLO. For this recording ANN, Dr.Nojoke, Waldboot and The Artist Formerly Known as From Karaoke to Stardom came together with a whole truckload of music hardware.

Samplers, grooveboxes, keyboards, guitar pedals, synthesizers and more create a unique vibe at the PLO sessions right from the set up and sound check. The unpredictable combination of all the instruments, effects and ideas, which are completely recombined from session to session, create a breeding ground of creativity for the artists attending the session. With the goal of allowing as few mental filters as possible to come between artistic intuition and the piece. To create an environment in which the participating artists allow the purest form of art. It is therefore also unnecessary to use typical musical phrases to classify the resulting work. The consumption of such artworks should also be enjoyed with as little bias as possible.

Ichinen is the experimental project by @robertobosco and @kinymuzik. Founders of Last Drop Records, their abstraction and experimental approach to techno has resulted in a weightless buoyancy in their productions. In 2016 Ichinen released A Morning Without Glory (Last Drop Records), featuring remixes by @etappkyle and @dasha-rush. For this occasion, they recorded an exclusive live hybrid set guiding the listeners into unexplored ambient realms.

Josephine’ Soundscapes @ SubRadio Bcn / 06.10.23

The third of my three deep 4/4 mixes for EC in 2023 rounds off with a more Detroit feel to it than the previous two mixes. Dominated by the wonderful P0lyrhythm (artist) on Yore (label) with notable contributions from Delano Smith, Taupe and Gilbert.

It has been a pleasure to present this series of deep house/techno mixes, so thanks to Keith Anderson for giving me the freedom to present these sets. Next year (2024) I will return to EC with a monthly deep electro show, so lots of records to get through in the coming months.

This is the archive of our regular show on Cashmere Radio, Berlin. 

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing - or refusing - to fit the patriarchal, racist, neoliberal mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us.

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal. Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

Each month host @lou_drago invites an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate futures free from all systems of oppression.
