WOW Moontribe turned 29 this year and still going strong! Who woulda thought our little full moon gatherings we started in 1993 would have become what it has become? Well I did, I knew it from the start! 

I had the honor of playing a 7 hour set to close it all out too!!! 7 fricken' hours!!! Ok well the last hour is definitely me just playing random songs I love for my friends (even thru in a Phil Collins track!), but that first 6 hours was pretty serious stuff!!! I started at around 10am and playing until 5pm ish. I hope you enjoy the journey!!!

Live@29Year Moontribe Anniversary

This is one of those sets that built up inside me, patiently awaiting its perfect moment. I found a few of these tracks some years ago and was struck by their unique flavor. Slowly but surely I built up my collection of what I would call the "indie-dance / nu-disco" sound. There is plenty of music under the blanket of those genres but much less of it out there that speaks to my personal tastes. I kept my ears open and picked them up one by one. This isn't a style that I will play often, but damn did it feel right on this beautiful sunrise morning in the desert. Smiling faces and dancing bodies radiated love and light, the speaker stacks roared and my heart was full. I hope you enjoy this set at full volume and dance yourself unabashedly into your happy place :)

"30 F*CKIN' YEARS!", someone shouted as this momentous occasion came to a close. 30 years of Moontribe Full Moon Gatherings -- just WOW. Such a wonderful gift to be a part of this unique community of artists, musicians, creators, dancers, lovers, family and friends, young and old. Words cannot describe what it has meant to me, and means to me to be able to participate in the "intense, but dancefloor friendly" magic that has been such a huge part of, and impact upon, my life. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you and wish for everlasting peace and joy in yours. Thank you, Moontribe Collective. I love you.

Here is my sunrise set from day 2, a 3+ hour journey of groovy psy tunes to get your juices flowing and your brain tingling. I hope you enjoy it. Due to an issue with the original recording, I decided that I wanted to share this with you anyway, so I re-recorded it, and threw in a couple bonus tracks that I had wanted to play but wasn't able to the first time around. Treavor Moontribe is one of the founders of the Los Angeles based “Moontribe Collective” and its legendary full moon desert gatherings. Since 1993, these events have been at the core of Southern California’s underground electronic music scene and these events are still ongoing to this day. Treavor established himself as one of the top Djs in LA thru these events and has since traveled the world from Brazil to Japan to Morocco, Portugal, Germany and all over North America. As a Dj it’s always been his diversity that’s set him apart, as his love for music spans multiple genres and his DJing reflects this. Over the years Treavor has also established himself as a dynamic music producer having released music under several project names. His most notable project is Desert Dwellers with his partner on the project Amani Friend. In recent years he has started a new solo project called PheuZen that focuses on more abstract forms of Electronica. 

Beyond music production and DJing, Treavor has also been deeply embedded in the music business itself. From 2005 to 2012 he was the Director of Dance/Electronic at INgrooves Music Distribution, starting with the company when they had less than 15 employees and leaving when there were well over 100. He also co-founded the record label Desert Trax with his fellow Desert Dweller, Amani Friend. Their label helped launch the careers of several prominent names in the downtempo/chill out music scene and has over 120 releases to date. In 2019, Treavor left Desert Trax to start up two new labels of his own called Dreaming Awake and Alien Breakdance, both focused on more uptempo music styles. 

Currently living in Costa Rica and coming out of a global pandemic that drastically changed the trajectory of his music career, Treavor has a renewed focus on DJing and music production, and of life itself! While Desert Dwellers is getting back to occasional touring, Treavor has shifted his focus over to his solo projects, DJing, his record labels and getting back into event production. One thing is certain, Treavor’s love and passion for music is as strong as ever!
