After 30 years I didn't think Moontribe could reach a new peak, but we absolutely did with our 30 year anniversary Full Moon Gathering! The location was unreal, the weather perfect and the people brought so much love and dance floor energy, I was simply blown away completely! 

My annual super marathon closing set tradition continued and I gotta say, this one was my best one yet! I only made 2 mistakes which had me laughing in my head big time...guess I was just too busy paying attention to all the amazing people on the dance floor!!!! This is a deep journey into many styles and tempos, a ride from 3pm to 9pm, hot daytime into a super stormy sunset that whipped up the wind, brought a tiny bit of rain and even some lightening to really stir things up!!! Of course that happened right after I played the track "Eye Of The Storm" making things even more magical!!! WOW what an amazing time this was, I'll never forget it!!!

3:30pm, outdoors in a super gorgeous desert with a big view of snow capped mountains. I was under the impression that the following act was going to be a downtempo act, so I planned a set accordingly. Then during my set I found out that it wasn't going to be a chill out set after me, so I picked much of this on the fly.  

Here’s my Moontribe story and quite how much of an impact MT has had on my life, music, other collectives I’m involved with, sound systems, etc. Happy 30 year anniversary to the legendary moontribe family!

From ‘98 to about ‘09 I basically didn’t know anyone who played and made music like me… some styles of melodic/psychedelic/deep/adventurous and experimental music. Some people call it weird but to me it’s not weird. It’s home, adventure, expanding, ever-changing, creative and bliss. Before I found out about Moontribe, I basically planned on being a Northwest weirdo in my adventures with this sound.

I heard of the mystical, highly respected and “secret” Moontribe for years but didn’t ever get a chance to go…then found some MT mixes which became favorites as I related so much. Treavor Moontribe/Treavor Moontribe started releasing some of my music and asked me to come play a MT reunion.

It felt like I found my long lost soul family. MT has been one of my biggest inspirations for music, etc. because of the open minded musical perspective at the gatherings, feedback I get from Moontribers in person and online, playing certain tracks I make that only work at MT, sustainable event production, locations interacting with nature, the high potentials of happiness from community/security/health, sound system capability, I could go on and on… I can’t thank the MT family enough for the massive amount of happiness and inspiration it has spread to so many people!!! 🙏🏻

My PlayAlchemist set was by far gonna be my biggest set of the week. It simply wasn't meant to be as the rain shut down their camp for the rest of the burn (big time sad face)! Treavor Moontribe is one of the founders of the Los Angeles based “Moontribe Collective” and its legendary full moon desert gatherings. Since 1993, these events have been at the core of Southern California’s underground electronic music scene and these events are still ongoing to this day. Treavor established himself as one of the top Djs in LA thru these events and has since traveled the world from Brazil to Japan to Morocco, Portugal, Germany and all over North America. As a Dj it’s always been his diversity that’s set him apart, as his love for music spans multiple genres and his DJing reflects this. Over the years Treavor has also established himself as a dynamic music producer having released music under several project names. His most notable project is Desert Dwellers with his partner on the project Amani Friend. In recent years he has started a new solo project called PheuZen that focuses on more abstract forms of Electronica. 

Beyond music production and DJing, Treavor has also been deeply embedded in the music business itself. From 2005 to 2012 he was the Director of Dance/Electronic at INgrooves Music Distribution, starting with the company when they had less than 15 employees and leaving when there were well over 100. He also co-founded the record label Desert Trax with his fellow Desert Dweller, Amani Friend. Their label helped launch the careers of several prominent names in the downtempo/chill out music scene and has over 120 releases to date. In 2019, Treavor left Desert Trax to start up two new labels of his own called Dreaming Awake and Alien Breakdance, both focused on more uptempo music styles. 

Currently living in Costa Rica and coming out of a global pandemic that drastically changed the trajectory of his music career, Treavor has a renewed focus on DJing and music production, and of life itself! While Desert Dwellers is getting back to occasional touring, Treavor has shifted his focus over to his solo projects, DJing, his record labels and getting back into event production. One thing is certain, Treavor’s love and passion for music is as strong as ever!
