This set was carefully mixed together during the early days of my journey as a downtempo DJ, a time filled with endless exploration, continously listening, and heartfelt appreciation for all forms of chillout music - that somehow shaped one part of my musical journey.

I am deeply grateful for the artists who have shared their creativity and passion through their music. Their artistry has not only inspired me but also touched a lot of listeners.

A significant portion of this set features releases from Altar Records between 2009-2012. The opportunity to represent Altar Records through that era was a kind of privilege. I am thankful for the trust and encouragement extended, and I hope that this humble collection does some justice to both the artists, and the label itself.

"mote. - Dust Particle (IDM/Downbeat/Chill) Darren Smith has been a composer, and performer of electronic music for the past 7 years. Under the project Reality Pixie, Darren has been a regular fixture on the Australian party circuit. In 2006 Reality Pixie was signed to Australian label, Gi'iwa Productions and in 2007 was signed to the Russian label Vertigo records. Having earned a reputation for creating emotional, melodic psychedelic trance, Darren has performed all over Australia: at festivals such as Rainbow Serpent, Tribeadelic, Earth Frequency, and Cairns Eclipse 2012. In 2008/9 Darren performed internationally with shows in Russia, Ukraine, Finland and Thailand: with the highlight being Khan Altay Solar Eclipse Festival. In recent years Darren has taken a step back from the world of dancefloor music to focus on his new downtempo electronic music project 'mote.'; a collage of ambient, glitchy breakbeats, melancholy melodies, ethnic vibrations and orchestral oscillations.  "Hello Tree of Life people! This is our entry for the Tree of Life Festival Music Contest for 2013. We are Cavemen. Cavemen is a live electronic music project by Stef van der Poel and Daniel Maalman from The Netherlands. Cavemen tend to colour outside the lines (still getting used to those opposable thumbs) by combining different electronic styles into their psychedelic primordial soup. They describe their style as ‘Funghi’: funky psychedelic music. Psychedelic trance, tribal house, techno, electro, dub-ambient, breakbeat, all these influences could pass by when they perform live. The only rule is that it has to be groovy and that it should rock. Because if there is one thing that Cavemen are experts on, then it is rocks. Loungy and sunny sounds are crossbred with heavy basslines and deep kicks, combined with tribal rhythms that call out to the inner neanderthal. Cavemen LIVE always reacts to the audience, and seeks the common denominator to make everyone move their feet, and because everything is played 100% live and created on the fly, every performance is different in character and can never be repeated in exactly the same way. "illusionists of Cotie" is the result of an extensive work of musical research realized by the chill out project named Catan Cotie which has been developed during the last three years. Seeking to explore new spaces and create new sound images, the work has based its mixings in mashup's (mixing and overlapping different sounds) of Chill Out musics together with the creation of an unique atmosphere within the history of its SETs. 
The experimentation, through creativity, is added to a diversity of styles present on complex mixings. The creation of sub-spaces and parallel sound scenery that dialogue, achieve a golden and illusionist character, so ephemeral and suspended,  that merges the boarders between the real and the imaginary. Rising is a good word to describe this experience that reveals part of the Cotie's magic. I hope you have a good session. Peace!

"Illusionists Of Cotie" é o reflexo de um extenso trabalho de pesquisa musical realizado pelo projeto Catan Cotie nos últimos três anos. Em busca de explorar novos ambientes e criar novas imagens sonoras, o trabalho fundamenta suas mixagens em Mashup's (mistura de músicas e sobreposição de diversos sons) de músicas de Chill Out aliado a criação de uma atmosfera única dentro da história de seus SETs. 
O experimentalismo, por meio da criatividade, junta-se à diversidade de estilos presentes sobre complexas mixagens. A criação de sub-espaços, e cenas sonoras paralelas que dialogam entre si, abrangem um caráter áureo e ilusionista, tão efêmero e suspenso que aproxima os eixos divisórios entre o real e o imaginário. Elevação é uma boa palavra para definir essa experiência que nos revela um pouco da magia de Cotie.

Artist BIO:

DJ Abhay is a portuguese artist addicted to electronic and dance music since he knew this kind of music. He started djjing in 2003, among his friends, playing in some private parties in Portugal. His favourtie kind of music for that time was Psytrance, wich he continues to love and working under this name. Over the years, he felt that mixing only Psytrance doesn't gave him all the opportunities and skills that a Dj must have, so he started to listen and creating alternative concepts about this art. Actually, he is also known as DJ ALB, a project that is more orientated to Tech House and Progressive Techno, but he don't close the doors to Dub, Dubstep, Ambient and Lounge... His sets can be described as deep and groovy, specially orientated to dance floor, but also to create some good environments in all kinds of places. He has been booked to act in some festivals, parties and clubs over Lisbon and Portugal playing side by side with great underground names like Ace Ventura, Captain Hook, Sensient, Dickster, Aphid Moon, Pixel, Talamasca, U-Recken, Tristan, Menog among others. Here is the first "ACIDTEK" set that i played on ACID ATTACK at The Zoo (Hasselt - Belgium) saturday 22 january 2011.  What a legendary night it was for this new party concept dedicated to our beloved 303 sound.  First edition and allready a SOLD OUT night !!!!  OLIVER BONDZIO from the HARDFLOOR collective straight from germany dropped a perfect mixed vinyl only set with some great highlights, STOORNIS live... 4 Dudes and so many studio live gear to start up 3 studio's coming from Ghent ROCKED the club with their Hard Rave,Techno & Hardcore Acid sounds driving the BPM up to 180 !!!!  Result, everybody going BONKERS like HELL !  GOLDFOX and myself dropped each 2 different set...... My RAVECORE ACID set is coming soon.
