Steven Cravis is a pianist and composer of ambient soundtracks. His music has appeared on CBS, NBC, CNN, Animal Planet networks as well as on the award winning puzzle app Quell.

Originally a duo garnering thousands of plays on myspace, Brawth are now a soup-ergroup; brandishing their highly original blend of dark and mellow alt-folk and delighting audiences live. More to follow very shortly, including the debut album from these leftfield Scots. First though, Threads of Sound will be releasing Brawth's first single in late march/early april 2014; a live double of the sadly and sedate Pictures of You and a stomping version of Pretty Flowers.
In the meantime things are very much under wraps. Demos can be heard across several music websites, but you have to know where to look.


About the Artist 
Craig grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota; a small community where everybody knows everybody. The high school marching band, called The Minnesota Marching M'Bassadors, under the direction of Mr. Gove (now retired), put this town on the map. Craig was a percussionist in the marching band. He also filled the role of drum major for the field show performances his senior year in high school. The band traveled all over the country. Craig had the opportunity to direct the field show band while they performed at the Festival Of States competition in St. Petersberg, FL in 1986. "This was an experience I'll never forget; a real honor. Music has always been a part of my life. I look back to when I was just a small child, visiting my grandma in Wisconsin. In her basement, there was a small electric organ that I used to play all the time. This is where I learned how to put basic melodies together."

Craig got his first taste of New Age music while serving in the US Army in A.I.T. (Advanced Individual Training) at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. "One weekend I walked into a store at the shopping mall. The first thing that caught my eye was a laser kaleidoscope playing with music. I asked the clerk what kind of music that was, he said it's called New Age (Fresh Aire was the artist). I was hooked, and have been ever since."

After serving eight years as a medic in the Army, Craig teamed up with his brothers Todd, Curt and good friends (guitarist) Paul Singh and (bass guitarist) Mic Ironi to play in a rock band. The cover band, named "Karolus", played for nearly 10 years before the group decided to hang it up. "One of the many highlights while playing in this band was opening up for Great White at a local show." After playing in the band, Craig decided it was time to compile the music he has written over the past 15 years to create his first album. "I am very excited and it gives me great pleasure to introduce my first album, "Standing On Top" to the world."

Lew Bear is a dynamic live performer and songwriter, playing his own Dirty Roots style, which is a blend of Americana and British folk. Lew can be found recording next to rivers and in forests just as often as in the studio - if not more - and if he’s walking over a bridge and likes the sound, odds are high he’ll use that bridge for percussion in a song.

Corey Koehler (pronounced KAY-ler) is a musician with an unending supply of goals for his music career and the ambition to follow through. The title of his first CD, Never Too Late, reflects Koehler’s own path to singing and songwriting. Around the age of 30, Koehler finally decided he wanted more than he could wean from a nine-to-five job. He picked up his guitar, which he hadn’t touched in years, and discovered not all was lost. Something about the music gave Koehler the fulfillment he was searching for.
Accidents Happen

His singing ability was an accidental discovery. Though he always enjoyed belting out songs along with the radio, it was his friends who encouraged this talent. Koehler would grab his guitar while sitting around a campfire to entertain an audience of friends. Compliments on his vocals became so frequent he started to believe maybe he possessed genuine talent.
Exploration

Koehler tried a succession of get-rich-quick schemes dreaming one would position him, financially, where he could devote the majority of his time to music. In retrospect, Koehler says that was the wrong decision. He now believes expending his energy on his musical abilities provides the greatest benefit and recommends the same to anyone with a talent of their own. He feels strongly that once a person begins exploring their talent, they find a more meaningful existence and are better able to positively influence the people around them.

Where The Music Comes From?

Koehler’s insight is present in the seven Americana originals in Never Too Late. Lyrically, his subject matter relates to anyone who finds themselves weary of monotony in the daily grind, inadequate in choosing words to express compassion over loss, and an active participant (eventually, anyway) in the failure of a relationship. Musically, he makes you want to raise a beer and toast yourself for making it this far.
Many Influences

Koehler is not committing himself solely to Americana. His influences stem from multiple genres, many of which he would like to try in the future. He considers himself a bit of a “music goat.” He has never been able to decide upon one genre and stick with it, so he decided it was unnecessary. Koehler arrived at the term “music goat,” he says, because a goat will eat anything. In the same fashion, Koehler will absorb all types of music without a preference for any one in particular. He also loves a hearty breakfast.

It's really Americana; it just flirts with electronica. 

I play mainly acoustic instruments, but I like the tension that happens when electric sounds, and found sounds intersect acoustic sounds. I also write words, but less of them seem to find their way onto SoundCloud.
