Eats Everything turns in a three-track EP of high energy jams, celebrating the short-lived but iconic
‘Hardbag’ genre from the mid 90s, with all three featuring vocalist Frankco Harris, a performer and host from NYC. 
“Hardbag, a style of music championed by Tony De Vit, Jon Of The Pleased Wimmin, Burger Queen, The Sharp Boys and many many others, was the antithesis of ‘handbag’ house which was popular in the cheesy clubs at the time. Super tough, super fun, largely queer-centric tongue in cheek music that was purely for the dancefloor and didn’t take itself too seriously all the while being absolutely mint (to me anyway). These tracks are for the party, they are for inclusivity & they are not meant to be taken too seriously.” - Eats Everything Kicking off with ‘Bobby And Ken’, Harris’ vocals float atop a punchy instrumental, incorporating shuffling, garage-esque drums, squelchy basslines, and off-kilter FX. ‘Coming For You’ is a high energy affair, bringing pounding percussion, bouncy low end, and high pitched leads to the table, before ‘Wallop (Better Than TheRest)’ brings the EP to a close with rave stabs, grinding build-ups, and cheeky vocal hooks.

Patrick Topping announces ‘Trick Presents Lethal Bangers Vol. 1’ 

Trick label boss Patrick Topping recruits a host of modern dance music’s most exciting talents for ‘Trick Presents Lethal Bangers Vol. 1’, the imprint's latest compilation. Showcasing his knack for A&R and keenness on pushing fresh talent, the roster contains numerous first-timers on the label as well as returning fan favourites. 

“To be fair, all these could have been A sides, they are that good! I’m buzzing to unleash these 19 bangers on the world. The variety in sounds is what Trick is all about, but they are all connected with a certain energy and distinction. Obviously, I’m biased, but I do think this compilation is unlike any other VA I’ve heard, and I’m really proud of it. It’s mainly an eclectic selection of house and techno, but there are a couple of cheeky Makina tunes thrown in at the end, for the craic! It's the first time Trick’s released Makina music, but the quality of the other 17 house and techno tracks, makes me think there’s the freedom to do so. Hopefully people enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed playing them out.” - Patrick Topping.

Swedish producer Tiger Stripes, the alias of Mikael Nordgren, brings his techno touch to Hot Creations for his debut EP on the label this summer. Jack My Yum is a heavyweight three-parter that sees the Swede invite Hot Creations stable mate, Matt Tolfrey, to provide a stellar remix.

Opening track Jack My Yum is a warped and heavy roller with a smattering of dark vocals. Haunted brings with it a bass that you can feel reverberating off the concrete walls of a darkened club, interspersed with an eerie melody. Following his recent release Americas on the label, Leftroom Records boss Matt Tolfrey brings his groove and a bouncier bassline to proceedings with his version of the title track. Dunjacka completes the EP, with Nordgren sewing together a techno beat with broken vocal stabs, underpinned by a throbbing groove throughout.

Tiger Stripes has collaborated with legendary names such as Kerri Chandler, Adeva, Leroy Burgess, Riva Starr and Jerome Sydenham, with his brand of deep and futuristic techno seeing releases on some of the underground’s biggest imprints including Desolat, Drumcode and Cajual.

The Newcastle native launched Trick in 2019 as a platform to spot and champion emerging artists, both in the studio and behind the decks. From completing a 9-date residency in 2022 at Ibiza's legendary DC10, to hosting a stage at EDC Orlando 2022, to attracting 10,000 ravers to The Warehouse Project in Manchester and bringing thousands to an Australian Debut in Melbourne in 2023. Then there is the Trick Weekenders, Budapest in 2022 and Tenerife in 2023. These events both saw 2,500 Trick Troops holiday and party together abroad, with Trick Tenerife this year set to double in size.

In 2024 Patrick is set to give back to his roots, bringing legions of fans to his hometown of Newcastle this summer 2024 with the launch of Trick Fest. Trick will also return to Ibiza, hosting a four-date residency in Hï’s Theatre on Wednesdays.
