This week's #disquietjunto prompt was to use stereo as a compositional tool instead of a mixing/processing one.

I had a foggy idea of using something simple like sine waves that "swooped" to their pitch, moving in the stereo field as they moved between the frequencies of different pitches. However, the gliding pitches were too prominent and overwhelmed everything else.

So, I ended up using the basic patch of Ableton's Operator, sampling a long tone, and then using Sampler so that different notes played at different places in the stereo field (lowest notes when to the leftmost part of the stereo field, the highest notes went to the right). 

This didn't make a *huge* difference, but when I listen to it I can feel the tones "shifting," and that's a good start for me!

This week, the prompt for Disquiet Junto 0634, "Bust a Move", asked us to build on a foundation of a piece of classical music heard through a wall or floor.

I chose Schubert's "Trio In E-Flat, Opus 100",  because I am a child of the 80s and The Hunger had a huge influence on me growing up as a babygoth.

I used a physical effect send to route the audio through a chain of guitar pedals, then loop back in to a new audio track in the DAW. I made three new tracks this way, with the pedals tweaked live, each one an interpretation of the source audio. The pedals I used were a Meris Enzo guitar synthesizer, an Eventide H9 Harmonizer, and the famous Walrus Audio ARP-87. 

NOTE: Headphones are recommended as a first line of defense against abduction. As a rule, Schubert never wore headphones. And we all know what happened to him.
