After a lengthy hiatus, we have released the 20th edition of our podcast series, featuring Nightime Drama’s, Trinity!

This one-hour mix encapsulates Trinity’s style of deep, hypnotic, hard techno, from a selection of both new and unreleased material.

Trinity is a DJ, live performer and producer based in Eora/Sydney.  Now celebrating her 20th year in the music industry, Trinity has earned the respect and love of fans, dancers and peers from Sydney to Berlin — and many destinations in between. Her abundant and diverse talents, her famous work ethic, and her uncompromising musical vision have made her a force to be reckoned with in the world of techno.

Trinity was billed alongside Richie Hawtin at the Vivid Sydney festival at Sydney Opera House; headlined Sydney’s world-famous Mardi Gras celebration; and has played at Tresor, Tomorrowland and many other clubs and festivals across Europe. Other stops on her musical travels have included New Zealand, India and Amsterdam’s famed Red Light Radio.

Each of Trinity’s live shows is marked by her unique versatility: from deep dub-techno, acid and electro to peak-time techno — all combining for a distinct and moving soundscape. Trinity is also one-half of boundary-breaking live act Phax Machine (along with partner Analogue Resistance), with the duo focusing especially on tougher breakbeat and classic rave sounds. 

Trinity’s recorded output includes collaborations with Luke Hess, Eric Cloutier, Headless Horseman and XDB, with her releases making their way into some of the best record shops in the world including Berlin’s Hard Wax. Trinity also runs A&R for the Australian techno label Nightime Drama.

After taking a break from DJing and performing during the pandemic to focus on running her business and parenting, Trinity is back — with a focus on quality over quantity and the same dedication and musical integrity as ever.

Nightime Drama Podcast 020 - Trinity

Trinity has established herself as one of the Australia’s pre-eminent proponents of house and techno since entering the club fray over a decade ago. As a DJ and Live act, Trinity has forged a reputation as a perfectionist, playing all across Australia, in addition to sets in Europe at Harry Klein in Munich, and Tresor and Studio R in Berlin, where she currently resides.

Her music has been released on labels such as Moodmusic Records, Lucidflow and Manual / Cinematique. In March 2014 she finally released the first album 1000 Points of Light under her moniker Trinity & Beyond. This year will also see Trinity’s first solo releases with OOC Records and Night Time Drama.

We visited Trinity in Berlin and had chat about Australian techno scene, her music and why the grass is always greener on the other side.

Trinity is a Sydney local who performs as a live act as well as DJ’s. She runs her own night called 4our and is a regular in the circuit of Berlin and greater Germany playing at venues such as Harry Klein, Studio R and Tresor.

Her style resides primarily within a circle made up of Detroit techno, minimal, house and ambient music. This mix is a blend between ambient and down tempo techno, a tasty combination. Trinity is part DJ, part live act. Part house, part techno. Part Sydney, part Berlin. The finished product is one that encapsulates all of the above.

In her hometown of Sydney, Trinity runs “4our” with Magda Bytnerowicz; a party that has carved a niche in Sydney’s underground scene, showcasing the likes of Peter Van Hoesen, Steffi and many others. 

Trinity has performed across Australia, displaying a versatility of sounds such as pounding techno, minimal and Chicago house along more dub techno soundscapes.
In 2016 she joined the Nightime Drama family label crew as an active member.

Here is what Renae/Trinity had to say about her exclusive mix:

"I have used production techniques in the intro of the mix and remixed a few Trinity & Beyond tracks on the fly, similar to what I’ll be doing in my upcoming live set which debuts in April. 

I have also used tracks by artists in the mix that i can't get enough of lately, such as Skudge, XDB (who i hear is touring in oz soon) and Conforce and labels such as Clone, deepindub and Echocord. Local labels i have selected to include on the mix are personal favourites Pinksilver and Haul Music, both stationed in Melbourne. 

Tracks include an old release on Pinksilver Net called 'Interpretation' by label boss Markojux, as well as two soon to be released tracks from Haul Music including Echologist's take on Craig McWhinney's 'Divinity' track, and Kirk Digiorgio's remix of Christian Vances Step 3000 track. 

The mix starts off slow and ambient, then builds gradually into dub techno and ends with raw/driving techno, which is very in-line with music i've been playing out lately. I hope you enjoy the journey :)"

Trinity is a DJ, live performer and producer who divides her time between Sydney and Berlin. 

She currently handles A&R and events for Australian techno label Nightime Drama.   As a performer, she was billed alongside Richie Hawtin as part of the Vivid Sydney festival at Sydney Opera House; and she has played at Tresor, Tomorrowland and many other clubs and festivals across Europe. Trinity is also a longtime guiding force on the Sydney underground, producing parties featuring artists and DJs including Steffi, Artefakt, Peter Van Hoesen, Steffi and Eli Verveine.  

Thanks to her famous work ethic and many long days and nights in the studio, Trinity’s recorded output keeps growing, and includes collaborations with Luke Hess, Eric Cloutier, Headless Horseman and XDB. Her recent vinyl EP ‘Adrifting Voyage’ in collaboration with Steven Tang made its way into some of the best record shops including Hardwax, and her debut full-length album Blinded by 1000 Points of Light (in collaboration with John Tzineris) was received with critical acclaim.
