Partial Press Release: The 43rd release on microCastle welcomes Brian Cid back to the label for a brand new EP. The NYC based artist has enjoyed much success since his label debut in December of 2014. An EP on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound and a mini LP on Guy J's Lost & Found Records top his 2015 highlights, while 2016 holds even greater promise with a new project for Cityfox on the horizon. Over the last 12 months Brian's sound has taken on a life of its own, increasingly organic and deeply emotional, the US artist has further stretched his sonic boundaries, with luminaries such as Adriatique, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin and Thugfucker now play listing his music. His return to microCastle has been much anticipated and a quiet start to 2016 has only made his rapidly expanding fan base even hungrier for new material. Brian now presents his second EP for the Canadian imprint entitled 'Belles Du Shaman' alongside a remix from Eagles & Butterflies.

The release begins with the title track and finds Brian carving out one of his most distinctive grooves to date. Layered beats and mystical pads set the piece in motion before an underbelly of warm bass swells fully initiates the journey. Highlighted by soulful vocal stabs the first act strikes an emotive chord, foreshadowing a break of warm harmonies and cinematic tones, ultimately leading to a third act of timely drops and heart-warming rushes. It's one of Brian's most unique creations and not surprisingly it comes from a special place, as he describes "Belles Du Shaman is a musical story of pain & struggle as well as hope & light. The hard drums and synths set the tone for this deep, pulsating and melancholic EP, that drowns in a sea of sounds, touching every weak corner of my heart. When I wrote this track I had just visited the mountains of Utah, more than 10,000 feet up. In a night of music and stars I was moved by how powerful and meaningful a space in time can be. A land that provides us with water, food, shelter... it gives us life as well as meaning. Imagine losing this. How it can impact our life and culture as well as our history and being. The end result of all these feelings and realizations came out in this track."

Fideles and Kellerkind cross paths into a split EP consisting of six original tracks showcasing their individual yet complemental production styles.

Haptic’s murmuring vocals are at the center of Vitamins, a playful exploration of fluid atmospherics. A clanging bassline provides the backdrop for whirlwinding synths, as the vocals build up an enveloping, dance-inducing tension. Wave Echoes kicks in lively from the get go: a relentless, steady percussion tied into a wandering baseline are the constant mainstays. The melody slowly develops as a fuzzy wandering pad adds another dimension, equally spacious as it is heavy.

Carving light with synth sweeps and spacious reverb, Illumino takes shape as a deep tech introspection. Accented with whirring bits and maintaining an elated undertone, it effectively embodies the ever-ascending, never-releasing groove that’s perfect for peak time hours.

Kellerkind steps up to the plate with Subzero, a slice of cavernous dub tech. Breathy vocals and sparse ethereal elements set a dreamy mood. Underlined by smooth piano chords, the vocal develops into a full fledged hymn that is both emotive and mesmerising. For his second take, the Swiss producer embarks on a techno tinged journey. Opting for distorted synths and a stomping bassline, he aptly crafts a near dungeon-like atmosphere only sweetened by a lush female vocal. Teaming up with Sven, they offer up Shakti Pan, a meeting point between tribal infused percussion and deep-set riffs. Hollowed out drums and bells chimes touch on chorus vocals and manage to create a highly immersive experience, rounding off the release on an uplifting note.

We got the first play of the title track "A Thousand Dances". Athletic Groove paired with the dreamy violin play of Christine Holtz. "A Thousand Dances" will be out on January, 13th.

Nach seinem Debütalbum „Ancient Lake“ veröffentlichte @jonassaalbach nun seinen nächsten Longplayer. „Perspective“ hat das Potenzial, “Ancient Lake” noch ein wenig zu überholen. Das Album für den Club spiegelt den typischen Sound des Produzenten wider: treibend! Zehn Werke haben es auf die Zusammenstellung gepackt, wovon die Hälfte mit Kollaborateuren entstand. Solok (gleich zweimal), Morina Miconnet, das Münchener Duo @hacker-miethig und @amberlong sowie Philipp Kempnich sind mit von der Partie. Erschienen sind die Werke am 27. In collaboration with Hannes Bieger, whose mixing adds a warm touch to the sound, R.EK is again pushing boundaries, and explores new grounds, where subtle, harmonious synthies and an enormous love for detail are paired to enable a new, distinct sound.

About KNOTEN
Under the umbrella of KNOTEN, R.EK is currently developing a new live performance concept that attempts to reinvent the communication between the artist and the audience by adding innovative visuals to the show.
