Usually a slot reserved for nothing short of legendary figures like thee one and only Andrew Weatherall (their most regular guest) or Optimo (their second most?), an open-to-end set at Spezialmaterial is certainly not for everyone. A journey into the weirder dark corners of club music? An energetic yet hypnotic psychedelic trip? We'll let you be the judges of that. It is certainly 100% C.P.I. at its essence. Dive in with an open mind and ye shall be rewarded.

C.P.I. is the collaborative effort from long-time Hivern Discs operative Marc Piñol, a staple in Barcelona’s underground electronic scene and one of its most revered DJs, and Berlin-based artist, DJ and self proclaimed dilettante, Hugo Capablanca who runs his somewhat iconic label(s) Discos/ Ediciones Capablanca.

Bound by a shared love of drone luminaries, ’80s electronica experimentalists, early acid house adopters, mutant techno and forward-thinking industrial sounds, the duo wrote their first Ep El Tunel/ Proceso in a whirlwind and, released on 2015 on John Talabot’s imprint, positioned themselves among the most talked club acts of the moment, earning both press and public acclaim with an innovative blend of their influences and modern production techniques that became easily distinguishable.

In 2018 their sophomore Ep Meine Hand is released. That same year C.P.I. receive the prestigious RTF Foundation composer’s grant and work for months in what consolidates in their debut album, Alianza.
Released on 2020 to wide critical acclaim, the LP featured Anna Homler, Veronica Vasicka and Spacemen 3 members, among others, and represented a pivotal shift in the duo’s creative output, leaving aside dancefloor concerns towards a fully immersive sound experience.

On May 2021 C.P.I. performed their first-ever live show in Barcelona deconstructing Alianza into a dark ambient maelstrom. Ambient Blackout, the live recording of the show, released end of 2023 on Ediciones Capablanca.

Céline Gillain is an artist based in Brussels working across the fields of experimental music, electronic music, and visual and performing arts. Her work explores the meeting points between dancefloor, politics, the industry, and storytelling, deconstructing the codes and hierarchies that govern them. In 2017, she released her first single together with Lexi Disques titled What Happens If I Open My Mouth?, soon followed by her debut LP Bad Woman with Drama (2018). Mind is Mud, Gillain’s second LP, was released with Cortizona in June 2023.

Carré is a producer, DJ, label head, and co-founder of Fast At Work, the future-minded party series and newly minted label, based in Los Angeles. Antoine 80 manages the Todorecto Records label with friend lux18, is also a resident on Lyl radio and has released music on labels such as Métaphore Industrie, Vastechoses and Promesses. With his love of sound systems, he is into all genres related to it: Dub, Bass, DnB, etc.
His wide-ranging practice has pushed him to develop aliases such as Tonito Yama, Tony Eighty and Antoine 420.
