[17/10/2016] The Remedy To Feeling Low & Weak In Your Faith (Īmān) - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

- A principle with Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the increase and decrease of īmān.

- The reality that none of us are exempt from our īmān decreasing. 

- Reasons for a decrease in īmān. 

- 1. Turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The consequences of turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- 2. Sins

- “…And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error.” [Sūrah al-Ahzāb 33:36]

- Picking up each other when we are down, and using the scales of Ar-Rahmān to solve our problems.

- Ibn al-Mubārak (رحمه الله) on the grave consequences of sins. 

- 3. Abandoning the truth.

- “…then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:38]

- A warning against forsaking the dīn and using trials as an excuse to be distant from Allāh.

- Following the example of the Prophets (عليهم السلام) and Salaf (رحمهم الله) in drawing closer to Allāh by way of trials. 

- 6. Giving importance to the dunyā over the ākhirah.

- Hasan al-Basrī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “…So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allāh.” [Sūrah Fātir 35:5]

- How we should reflect when we hear/recite verses of the Qur’ān. 

- Caution against exchanging something that is worthless and will come to an end for something that is everlasting. 

-  Warnings from the Messenger ﷺ regarding the dunyā.

- A golden statement from the Salaf describing this dunyā and how we should navigate it.

- Yahyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the intoxication of this dunyā. 

- The remedy for weak īmān. 

- The heart and soul’s need for sustenance in order to survive. 

- The only thing that gives life to the heart and soul.

- A hadīth regarding the reality of the dunyā and the importance of the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The only thing in this world that is not cursed.

- Al-A’raj (رحمه الله) on what causes a blessing to turn into a calamity. 

- The critical role of knowledge in remedying weak īmān, sadness, anxiety and stress. 

- The wretched soul.

- Equipping ourselves for the battle against Shaytān and his relentless efforts to destroy us. 

- Resolving to analyse and rectify ourselves.

The speaker started by asking attendees to read the matn (text) by heart. On day 1, the first 4 lines were covered. On day 2 we covered the next 6.5 lines. Today we cover the remaining parts of the poem

Some points of benefit from today’s lesson:

-	Numerous attendees memorised the full poem and recited it (not recorded)
-	What is our belief regarding the pool on the Day of Judgment?
-	The Siraad (bridge) on the day of Judgment 
-	How is the speed that one crosses it determined?
-	What is the ultimate success? 
-	What will you be asked in the grave?
-	One of the benefits of studying aqeedah: it helps you to do more good deeds
-	One of the signs of the people of innovation: They attack the scholars of the Sunnah
-	What is the significance of the last two lines?


We completed the full poem. Alhamdulilah. 


The lines of the poem that we covered today:


-	And I affirm the Scales and the Pool which
-	I hope to be (amongst those) whose thirst will be quenched (by it)
-	And likewise (I affirm) the Bridge extended over Hellfire (over which all will pass)
-	So (either) one made safe (and) delivered (or) another forsaken (who will fall)
-	And the wretched one will be burned in the Fire by Divine wisdom
-	And likewise (by Divine wisdom) the pious one will enter Gardens
-	And every mentally-sound living person will have in his grave
-	His deeds to accompany him and for which he will be questioned
-	This is the creed of al-Shaafi'ee and Maalik
-	And Abu Haneefah and then Ahmad which has been This is the creed of al-Shaafi'ee and Maalik transmitted
-	So if you follow their path, then success have you been granted
-	And if you innovate then no support (whatsoever) do you have.
