[02/06/2023] Holding on to The Religion in Times of Fitan by Abu Humayd Saalim حفظه الله.

- Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzan (حفظه الله) on the purpose for which Allāh created the creation and the reason He puts them to test.  
- How fitan (trials/tribulations) distinguishes between the believer and the hypocrite, and the truthful one and the liar.
- The wisdom and mercy of Allāh in allowing fitan to take place. 
- The meaning of the verse, “Allāh will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the wicked from the good. Nor will Allāh disclose to you the secrets of the Ghayb (unseen)…” [Sūrah Āl ‘Imrān 3:179]
- Proof that fitan takes place throughout the generations and is not restricted to a specific time or nation.
- Proof that fitan will continue to increase and become more severe as time passes.

The Appearance Of Fitan In Our Times

[29/09/2023] The Dunya!! O Mankind! Drown Not in The Deep Ocean of its Deception! – By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khutbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

A warning against chasing the dunyā to the extent that our loving and hating revolves around it.

The fitnah of the dunyā being the greatest of our concerns and limit of our knowledge.

Āyāt wherein Allāh informs us of the reality of this dunyā.

Striving for our real home.

The evil of this dunyā and the state of confusion it causes us to be in.

The Messenger’s ﷺ command to fear the dunyā, and that which he feared for us.

The advice of the Messenger ﷺ to Ibn ‘Umar (رضى الله عنهما), and how he understood and acted upon it.

Yaḥyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the dunyā being the devil’s intoxicant and the only point at which the intoxicated one will regain consciousness.

Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “O mankind! Verily, the Promise of Allāh is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allāh.” [Sūrah Faṭir 35:5]

- Benefits from the verse, “Allāh has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islām). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the fāsiqūn (rebellious, disobedient to Allāh).” [Sūrah an-Nūr 24:55]
- The scholars’ closing of the doors to bid’ah from all angles.
- The manner of the Ṭālib al-‘Ilm.
- The damaging da’wah of the ḥizbiyyūn.
- Statements from ‘Abdullāh b. ‘Umar and ‘Abdullāh b. Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنهم) that refute “bid’ah ḥasanah”.
- The reason this verse (Sūrah an-Nūr 24:55) was chosen.
- A characteristic of the believers.
- The certainty and patience of the ‘ulamā in calling to Tawḥīd and Sunnah.
- The warped understanding of the Khawārij.
- Proof for Tasfiyah and Tarbiyyah from the Qur’ān and Sunnah.
- Praise and recommendation of Shaykh Rabī’ (حفظه الله) from Shaykh al-Albānī, Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn and Shaykh Ibn Bāz (رحمهم الله).
- The two conditions for actions to be accepted.
- The heaviness of ‘Aqīdah.
- Ahlus-Sunnah’s love for the masjid.
- Following the way of the Ṣaḥābah in being firmly established upon Tawḥīd and Sunnah.
- Encouragement to keep striving before death comes to us.
- 50,000 years of punishment on Yawmul-Qiyāmah.
- Our need for Allāh to shower us with His mercy.
- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the two ḥawḍs.
- Those given security.
- The severest of oppression.
- Those whom Allāh raises.
- The obligation upon the scholars to advise with following the path of the Messenger ﷺ and refute those who refuse to do so.
- How to attain complete security.
- Traits of the Khawārij.
- The importance of understanding and not just memorising.
