To celebrate 20 years of building Labyrinths, we have decided to release one set from each of the last ten years. I've chosen ten timeless moments that both document the history of the event and provide a historical snapshot of underground electronic music over the past ten years.

We have chosen a broad range--from closing techno sets, to morning ambient sets, to experimental sets to close the night. Each set represents a different side of the event. Taken together, they present a portrait of a decade of music.

The Labyrinthの20周年を記念して、過去10年間を振り返り、それぞれの年からひとつのミックスをピックアップすることにしました。イベントの歴史を記録すると同時に、過去10年間のアンダーグラウンドエレクトロニックミュージックの歴史的なスナップショットを提供します。今聞いても色褪せない、タイムレスな極上のミックスをお楽しみください。

テクノのクロージングセットから、朝のアンビエントセット、そして夜を締めくくるエクスペリメンタルセットまで幅広いセレクトですが、どのセットもThe Labyrinthの欠かせない側面を表しており、ここ10年におけるエレクトロニック ミュージックの全容とも言えるでしょう。

OpenLab Selectors: Saria

Part of Uruguay's burgeoning Phonoteque family, Stonem is as uncompromising in his sound as he is in his DJ sets. Square wave basslines, raged synths and room filling drums all feed into his sound palette. Out of the blocks with a bang his first forays into the world of production found their home on Phonoteque, that was back in 2019 and he has been a firm fixture with them since.

The man from Montevideo makes it his goal to seek out the gnarliest sounds and jaw clenching breakbeats. All packaged up in a tightly woven journey that has now dipped into the stratosphere of our InSession series. From more downtempo beginnings Stonem quickly finds his pace and tone and the rest is for you to explore. Zap filled, electro goodies are to be found at the corner of every mix and it is little wonder why he is so prized amongst a label full of legends.

Having already released on Mari.te’s Tresydos imprint and For Playful Manners, French born, Lisbon based artist Penelope is another darling of the selector house scene. Regularly carting her trusty record bag around the world’s airports, she also has a solid foundation in her adopted Portuguese home. When behind the decks, she can often be seen with a glint in her eye and playful smirk on her face as she knows the reaction her insane bombs will have when they drop.

Her cosmic, often dreamy, sometimes pitch black musical direction is fantastically tempered with outrageously diverse moods and basslines to die for. Penelope’s mix for our podcast series is a trip through electro dreams that stops off in all manner of locations along the way. Heavy undulating basslines, arping synths and body rocking drums signal the arrival of yet another finely weighted addition to the InSession lineage. There is no better way to kcik off your weekend.

Founder's Instant Part 2 - Kizoku

Emerging from the Romanian scene back around ten years ago as an accomplished DJ and producer, Bucharest's Funk E has been on a circuitous path since then, taking in gigs all over the globe as well as a residency at Underground in Ibiza. 

Despite releasing on a number of prominent labels, he's always kept a pretty small footprint; focusing on quality rather than pumping out a stream of tracks and mixes.  This one is no different and hints at an artist who's been steadily refining their craft.  In it you can hear the evolution of his sound; clearly with one foot in the Romanian landscape in which he cut his teeth but possessing an uncommon sophistication and depth.

Funk E

Few artists command the legacy that Italian artist Alex Picone has at his disposal. Having long since relocated to Barcelona, Alex is perhaps one of the busiest men in the business. Between running Small Black Dots, both record store and distribution arm, he also runs the interconnected seekers label and series of parties, and then there is also the artist. Alex is a regular face on the touring circuit and should be sought out whenever his name appears on a lineup near you. His sheer experience in the game is worthy alone of the many plaudits he receives, but it is his tenacity and willingness to keep striving for the sonic audience. [continue reading at...

One of Uruguay's most esteemed selectors and an integral part of the Phonotheque team, Emilio has been formative in the creation of one of the world’s most exciting emerging scenes. Having helped to build a foundation in Montevideo for a new crop of artists to take their place on the world stage, Emilio has now made the move to Barcelona. This flit has already been worth its weight in air miles as his appearances in the city have been welcomed by the legion of electro heads that rightly pride Phonotheque as one of the most influential imprints in the world.
