The fresh new talent Thorgerdur will be playing with Robin Ordell and Lamache at Sumdayz takeover tomorrow evening @Ibiza Underground. The Icelandic DJ and producer Thorgerdur plays warm personal sets. She takes her time to explore how the music works together, playfully combining genres, confidently leaving the space to each track to enfold itself. Check out her podcast here.

With the star of Torino crew Outcast firmly set to skywards, one of the driving forces Cristian Sarde is one of the minds that has piloted them to the lofty space they now occupy. Having been throwing some of the most outrageous low key raves on the continent, Their laser scoped booking policy, Keen ear for a hidden wax gem, a group of like minded and highly focused individuals were always going to go far. They have a lot going for them but none of this would be possible without talent and Cristian exemplifies the hard work of the whole team. 

Bouncing between dark, electro charged house and techno and more obscure ambient touches, the Outcast sound is wide ranging as is the guests they invite to their parties. Recent headliners have included Bakked, Nicolas Lutz, Z@p, KINO, Detroit In Effect, as well as co-hosting parties with Kappa Futur, Melcure & Distrikt Paris, My Own Jupiter, and all this, incredibly since the summer. Cristian is right in the middle of all of it and so him now progressing as an artist in his own right was also inevitable. This journey has also been supercharged by way of Cristian and fellow Outcaster Salvatore Ficara’s new imprint Radici Rec.

It was also a no brainer to invite Cristian to deliver his audio vision and like the sprawling parties and after hours that Cristian excels at his mix offers a crash course in the full spectrum of his capabilities. From the eerily soundscape that sets the tone for the next hour, Cristian soon begins shifting through the gears and drops a steady slew of hard to find wax only gems that are soon to send Discogs into meltdown if they are ever ID’d. Expect to be seeing Cristian and his crew a lot more and we are expecting big things indeed.

The one and only Shonky is behind the wheels for DIM 298. The Parisian’s first podcast in several years, recorded at his Berlin home, balances house of all shades and techier stylings with aplomb, a backbone of groove running through 80 refined and classy minutes. Sit back and enjoy.

Italian hotshot Yaar Kü has been a pivotal part of the huge success of After Caposile, having helped it grow from a humble Sunday after hours to the worldwide powerhouse it currently is. Having honed his craft in the garden and in the main room, Yaar Kü has distilled his sound over years of experimentation to produce the heady sonics that his sets burst with. Outside of his home turf, there have been many highlights to speak of and with slots at Les Enfants Brillants, Butik Festival, Distrikt Bar in Leeds, and Yellow House during  Amsterdam Dance Event there will surely be many more in 2024.

As well as a steady slew of top drawer bookings on the horizon, Yaar Kü is also in the process of forging his path in the studio. Being a part of the label output from Caposile Music is not a prerequisite as the brand is built on quality and their residents need to adhere to this. Luckily for AC there are bombs a plenty to be found in Yaar Kü’s studio. This has already begun to bear fruits with releases on his beloved Caposile Music by way of a sole EP, an inclusion on “The Sound of the Garden” VA, and most recently the impressive collab alongside Miller for Les Enfants Records.

Moving on to this week's InSession edition and we find this Italian in scintillating form with a barrage of punchy selections that we can visualise destroying every part of the dancefloor. From proto house and deeper cuts there is a distinct Italo flavour that underpins the mix to devastating effect. We would be selling both artist and mix extremely short to say that this is part of the sound that makes up After Caposile, but there is little doubt that Yaar Kü’s influence is a clear indicator of the vibe that makes up this special place.

Renegade Season is perhaps one of the most active names in UKG and his discography and bandcamp profiles will seriously attest to this. From his regular salvo of dubplates and his indelible link to the inhumanly prolific Sky Joose, Renegade has created a mainline to the roots of UKG. Being an independent and self-sufficient vehicle for shining a light on the talents of Sky Jooce, Renegade Season’s goal is dedicated to unearthing the gems that he has tucked away in his locker and presenting them to the world. By doing so, Renegade Season uses the voice he has created via his Youtube channel and returns the power to the artist to help them harness the potential of their music and creative ideas.

All the tracks in the mix are produced by Sky Jooce and they are expertly stitched together by Renegade, we doubt there would be a DJ that would know these tracks better than he. Not allowing the groove to drop out for too long, this mix from Renegade is a blistering snapshot of where UKG has been and where it is headed with a new slant on the Garage sound with shadowy textures and murky undertones. These vibes are kept in check by the smile-inducing rhymes and insane bassline action throughout and some of these tracks have been taken from the upcoming SkyKap album which is going to drop in the near future. Not wishing to offer too much in the way of our usual fanfare regarding the mix, we have opted to take Renegade Season’s lead and let the music do the talking.

Renegade Season - Trommel InSession 123

An accomplished artist, Elias Sternin is a name on the rise. This Uruguayan has, in recent times, become a much more regular fixture around Europe and beyond. With releases for the likes of Cupula Records, Mung Records, LeMaia, and then there is also Elias’ own label Ratiug Recordings. With his sound coming straight from his home country which seems to specialise in acid drenched house and techno Elias is also a very skilled digger. The result of his digging sessions is a refined sound that really sets him a part once he takes control of the DJ booth.

Going straight for the jugular from the off, Elias utilises his full tool kit of raw sine wave synth lines, earthquake inducing basslines, and pitched vocals but there is always a slight curve ball in the percussion. This is where his digging skills and Urugyiuan roots come into play as, regardless of the ferocity of the electronics there is always a little something that is not expected. This is the x-factor that will continue to shine a light on his name. This mix for InSession series is a true testament to this rising star.

Elias Sternin - Trommel InSession 124

Parisian DJ, producer and label head Poggio is currently adding swathes of genre defining music to his artillery. From his deep rooted involvement in the French scene this artist has staked his name on the depth of his record collection and heights of his productions. As well as his own tracks, alongside Gabriel Belabbas, he has also now created a platform for others to shine by way of his Positive Future Music. Already at edition five which featured killer tracks from Juaan, Ramez, Plazeg, and his own co-produced hitter alongside Aline Umber, this explains what realms he maneuvers in. 

Having been on our radar for sometime, we thought it was high time he joined our InSession series and Poggio comes correct with an extract from his set at Bürro in Mainz, Germany. By now you should have spotted on our socials the trademark curved hangar style club that as well as boasting an impressive built in lighting rig offers sizzling dancefloor scenes on the regular. This night is clearly no different as Poggio quickly shifts through the gears pummeling the crowd with wave after wave of chest caving beats and outrageous acid basslines. As with all our InSession artists, Poggio is one to watch and to most definitely one to catch in action as soon as possible.

Poggio - Trommel InSession 125

Hackney born and bred artist Anna Wall has more than proved her chops way before her high profile appointment as fabric resident back in 2019. Her productions for a wide swathe of labels in recent years as well as her growing self made discography on her own labels The Bricks and Dream Theory command the utmost respect. The former imprint has been a constant source of dancefloor weaponry and has already delivered its eighth edition, much to the enjoyment of some of the most raucous dancefloors around. As well as penning outrageous hitters Anna is always a sure fire bet for her outstanding skills in the DJ booth and she has a massive summer schedule ahead of her that includes appearances at Houghton Festival, ION Festival, Junction 2, Madruga Festival, Baum Festival, Glastonbury, the huge FFRC x fabric 25 years event at OFF Week, and of course her beloved fabric residency.

There is a very good reason that her skills are in high demand and that is largely down to her deft record selections. A self confessed vinyl head of the highest order, her record bag always spans a finely curated cross section of techno, acid, crunchy breaks, and bass loaded hitters. So, it is with this wealth of wax knowledge that we welcome Anna Wall to our Insession series. Atmospheric breakbeats effortlessly bleed into one and other as she slowly dials up the pressure until it breaks into the euphoric electro gems that have become her calling card. Anna is a truly versatile artist that proves time again and again by the diverse lineups that she is welcomed into. If you haven't caught her in action yet, make it your goal this summer.
