After meeting LA native Guy Fridge for the last edition of Functions Of The Now, we move across the Atlantic to hit up Paul Purcell in Dublin, the man behind one of our favourite labels: Glacial Sound. On the cusp of its fifth release, it’s testament to Glacial Sound’s precision that with just a handful of records scattered across the last two years it’s become one of the most essential labels in the current grime landscape. Thus far it’s been home to the EPs that solidified Rabit and Murlo’s respective sounds as well as pushing them to the forefront of the modern grime scene, a white label containing Logos’ most potent dancefloor cuts to date and of course legendary MC Riko Dan’s underground anthem Black Dragons. On his FOTN Purcell has crafted a companion piece to the forthcoming Sharp Veins debut Inbox Island, whilst dropping some hints as to where the label might go next: you'll have to hunt though, as the tracklist is heavily redacted. Another snapshot from our night with @escalator-to-nowhere in May 2025. Half-human, half-AI hallucination, @dreamsoftwarecorp floats in like a digital cloud formation. The first half rains down pixelated cascades of ambient techno, while the second introduces heavier textures with wriggling 303s pulling you through like cilia to the other side.

OHBE (Ohm Town) is one of the places where I’ve had one of the most comfortable and beautiful experiences with how music can sound. Crystal-clear, warm, and crisp ; the kind of speakers that let you truly feel and rediscover your music.

It was the first day of August, on a delightfully gentle morning, during which we spent three hours travelling through emotions and juggling with energies.

This mix is one of the most sincere I’ve recorded in a long time. A set where I felt deeply free to connect with my inner emotions, and with the crowd, thanks to the intimate scale of the venue.

It was recorded live at OHM.Town on August 1st, 2025, during the afterparty of our HORS-SOL gathering, held the same day at the wonderful Macadam venue in Nantes.

Don’t have many rules in life but one of them is that whenever a new mix by Pjenne comes out, to stop what I’m doing immediately and put it on. And probably am not alone here. 

Like many people, Pjenne’s mixes have been go-to’s, essential and always-classy additions to a landscape of noise and clutter. 

Like your favourite mix CD that never left the space•ship stereo. And no matter how many times you listen, it seems to get better and better with each play. They’re timeless, they’re crucial and the amount of care and love poured into each one is apparent as soon as you hear the first blend. 

Often compiled and cooked up over the course of a couple of years, they have the kind of craft and expertise that can only come from doing a weekly radio show for over 6 years, being a staple of her local Naarm scene and being an all-round legend. We’re pleased to report this mix is no different and has been on repeat since it arrived. 

Appreciate this is a bit of a gushy write up, but sometimes you’ve got to say it how it is, and anyone who’s a Pjenne Ultra will understand what a big day this is at space•lab HQ.
